      Hi all,

      My DD got AL12D.
If distance is not an issue, which school shld apply first?
Nan Chiau SAP (cop12) or PLMGS (cop13)?

Anyone can feedback on school cultures/teachers/students for PLMGS vs Nan Chiau vs St Margaret?

      Thanks al

I dunno. I feel the school's layout is more structured for RGS and Nanyang. RGS being a fairly new campus with all the tech stuff (ergonomic classroom furniture).Nanyang's Layout is very organised. It is just my layman's observation. MGS seems to be abit cluttered.

RGS, probably all the gifted and high flyer students are there. Hence tends to be competitive. I assume that is what they meant by toxic.

IB and IP about the same right? Just that IB is more ang moh, while IP is more locally?

You probably guessed I am really novice at all this secondary school selection.

Any advices or information will be grateful.

Competitiveness is subjective and contingent on individual perception. \"toxic\" is too strong a word to describe it.

RGS is undoubtedly highly competitive, and I'm quite certain the same holds true for NYGH and MGS as well.. 😄

DD surprised us with AL4 and HCL Merit.

With that score she can go for RGS, Nanyang, MGS.

May I have ask which will you choose? I am noob at this. Daughter said RGS environment is very toixc. Nanyang CL is extremely tough. So the next best thing is MGS.

We did attended the open houses. Frankly speaking I was impressed with the physical schools of RGS and Nanyang.
Congrats! Based on feedback from other parents and some of my daughter’s classmates who have been in each school, I think RGS is a competitive environment where everyone is striving to study harder and do well while Nanyang is slightly more relaxed and the ties with HCI are quite strong. However MGS IB will allow your DS to spend 2 years in ACS(I) which could be beneficial and has the most interaction with opposite genders. However there is minimal interaction during the first 4 years while Nanyang and HCI regularly organise sports meets and other events together. Overall I would pick MGS IB as I really like the curriculum becoz it equips these youths better for real world situations and increased interaction with classmates as there are many group projects

Every year, we see parents and students choosing MGS IB, maybe the ministry could look into providing more vacancies for this option?

                  Hi,

Does anyone know about the cut-off for MGS for 2022 and 2021? Does it ever touches to 7?

                  Thanks a lot.

This contains all the popular shorting listing criteria, plus historical cut off point for each secondary school and posting groups:

This is a simplified version that display only cut off points:

Hi, i would like to check if the PSLE score don’t meet the score require for the school that kids prefer. Can we still put as first choice and second choice. Then the third choice will be the school that match with the psle marks? If anyone can guide me and advise me ? Thank you.

if you put the school they prefer they may get in because the cut-off may change

like for example in 2021 TJC cut-off was 8(M) but in 2022 it increased to 9(M)
so you still have a chance
