      AL5 is sure in
AL6D may require balloting depending on how many students applying each year.

Foresee many parents will push for IP instead of O level.
Schools with IP course could be more difficult to get in.
No matter how MOE/Minister does, it is always stressful to parents.
NYGH COP was AL7D, not AL6D.

So AL6M stands a very high chance to get in.

Not sure about nan chiau but during Chung cheng open house visit, we asked teacher there the same question since my gal didn't take HCL, the answer is can, base on same cut off point. But HCl is default compulsory for s1 onward.
Yes, able to get in. But HCI is needed for s1.
If your kid can cope and interest in HCI, why not. Orelse, think twice bcos my colleague’s kid dont like chinese and didnt take HCI and dsa into SAP school, but then he is sec 3 now, since sec one failed till now, quite tough for him.

Hi all. I would like to have more advices and references/information from people here. My DS PSLE result is AL7 total. We are SC. We thinking to apply to NJC but after do some research, I am abit surprised that NJC quality dropped very much. The school facilities is old, teachers are not helpful. I take train to NJC daily and see kids from NJC with blur and sleepy faces while kids from HCI are more interactive. On the academic side, NJC also dont produces top A level results. I dont see school organise any open house to attract prospective students. Initial, I made NJC my first choice but after recalling kids with NJC Uniform 's attitude at my place, I would rather think more. May anyone here give us 2nd/3rd opinion on NJC?TIA
NJC conducted open house. Your information is wrong.

Hi just want to run through the S1 option list before submitting it here with all the expert parents…

My girl got AL8D, no affiliation to any secondary school. SG citizen. much prefer IP than O level.

            The list in order -
            1. SCGS IP
            2. Dunman IP
            3. TJC IP
            4. RV IP
            5. Fairfield Methodist
            6. CHIJ Toa Payoh

Question - Dunman High COP for 2023 was 8M. Provided the COP for 2024 doesn’t change, my girl ( with AL8D, putting Dunman High as second choice), will still be considered before those who has AL8M and put Dunman as first choice?

            Any other comments are welcome!

Yes AL8D will get in first before AL8M. Merit always comes first. Choice only comes in if it's tie breaker, ie if both same scores. All the best!

Yes, choice is only considered in the tie breaker of students with the same score and citizenship.

Situation will be different every year especially for this year 2023 PSLE takers, (IP course will be hot).
In fact, there is not much seats left after considering pools of NYPS affiliation students and successful DSA applicants.

Of course you can always give it a try even if its AL8.
                      I could be wrong.

Just FYI, if taking JC route, taking HCL would be useful because once you pass HCL, you do not need to take CL in JC.

Some IP schools set a higher criteria, (eg. min B4 to skip CL in JC).
Also, check if the school has both HCL and CL because for some schools, they can start of with HCL in S1 but if cannot cope, then can drop to CL. Some SAP schools, HCL is compulsory for all students.
