Travel: China - Hong Kong

chixchix,
The weather was good for us - we just came back from HK last Saturday. It was sunny yet cool. But for some reason, my kid got a tan - I suspect it’s the trip to the Giant Buddha on Lantau Island. We were in HK for 6 days and it rained on the 4th and 5th day - 4th day was Ocean Park and 5th was Disneyland!
I think either Ocean Park or Disneyland will thrill the kids, but Disneyland will have a touch of familiarity to them becos of the characters. Remember to take them to the Fantasy Garden to take pics with the available characters there. Ocean Park has different areas for kiddy rides and more adult rides so if you go Ocean Park, it’ll be no less fun for the kids. We happened to see the feeding of the sealions while we were there. Like Disneyland, 1 day is also not enough for Ocean Park. We only managed to cover most of the adult rides area for the trip we made. -
Its my 4th day in HK, staying in Kowloon Shangrila now.Hmmm ,visited Temple Street and Stanley market …nothing so nice that attracted me to buy.
Went to Ocean Park today, I find that the rides are short …but it was very very hot today here.Overall , my kids enjoyed.
I havent taken the Star Ferry yet. Went to Harbour City shopping centre and again, I didnt find anything nice here, very crowded as well.
oh another thing, so many women are carrying LV,Gucci, its like almost everyone has something hahaha.
I dunno but i found it boring here. Only enjoyed the brightly lit, vibrancy of the city and the harbour area. -
Just backed fr HK via Jetstar 6D5N, great time and thank God rain only last day of our trip.
Went HK Zoo/Botanic Garden(by bus near Kennedy Road, nearest MTR Central) in the morning -not bad considering it is FREE, except the mosquitoes are like Commandos, the afternoon are spent in Central area. Father’s day everywhere crowded, so went "Nan Ya" island for triking and seafood- good to exercise to lost some weight.
Disneyland (long queues so managed to cover only 60% of rides & all 3 shows. 2nd time there, kids still excited but adults ok but at least ve some changes compared to last summer).
Did some shopping at Tai Koo Plaza, Central & Causeway bay - not summer sale time so not much selection. If you r not into branded, can forget abt Citygate unless u drop by on the way to Disney. 1st time on Jetstar, kids trying to get use to no Movies, toys n free food…ha ha -

You can check out The Cityview Hotel at Hong Kong. Reasonable price and minutes to MTR.Hi all

hi fluffie,
we last stayed at the panorama hotel, try asking for high floors, then you get panoramic view. it’s near to the east tst station and walking distance to the avenue of stars, and at the rooftop you can watch the largest outdoor lights performance in the evening. -
Hi,
Looking for good hotel recommendations. We are doing HK in November during school hols.
Looking at 6 adults and 3 children. Consists of us + 3 kids, my parents and his parents.
I am hoping to find serviced apartment that is reasonably priced and well located. Currently exploring YMCA and Citadines… Any other recommendation. Preferably 3 rooms. Worst case, hubby + 1 child sleep with his parents. While me + girls sleep with my parents. -
MMM:
We stayed at the Cosmopolitan hotel when we were there in June. This is one of the few hotels that have family room. Our room has 2 Queen sized beds. It is not as convenient as some of the other hotels but still within walking distance to times square. We paid about S$260+/nite for that room.Hi,

Most of the hotels in Hkg have a restriction on how many pple to a room. Max is 2 adults and 2 young kids. My friend who has 3 kids had no choice but to book an additional room or look for apt or hotels with family rooms. -

Thanks for the advice and the watchouts.
Actually hoping to find a place at TST area. Preferably somewhere convenient as I foresee that the youngest will probably be tired after a day of touring. We will also be mostly travelling on MTR or buses.
As we've 6 adults and 3 kids. We are thinking of 2A + 1 C in each room.
