CHIJ St Nicholas Girls' Secondary

To all
2023 end of Sec 2 OP students
(born in the year 2009), at year-end streaming :-
If you are choosing
2024 O-level Sec 3 "Triple Science" subject combination,
note that
you will be taking a Total of 10 subjects in O-level, and not a Total of 9 subjects
Because
over and above your Triple Science Pure (ie. Pure Physics 6091 + Chemistry 6092 + Biology 6093), you will also need to take
Double Humanities as well,
not just take single Humanities here, in St Nick. -
To All 2023 Sec 4 O-level students,
who are heading towards or targeting for specific Junior Colleges like
say, Raffles Institution or
Nanyang Junior College -
whether
you enter by accepting their DSA Confirmed Offer
or
via entry by your L1R5 Nett score, after the release of O level results next year, around 12 January 2024, you may want to take note.
=========================
Whether you enter RI or Nanyang Junior College (NYJC) by accepting their DSA Confirmed Offer
or
by your L1R5 Nett score released on 2024 O-level results Announcement day :-
there is a difference in the way, academic lectures are
conducted
between
Raffles Institution vs. Nanyang Junior College (NYJC)
for Example
============
1) inside Raffles Institution -
For the more often popular
H2 A-level (BCMX or PCMX) subject combination,
where
X stands for a Humanities subject, B for H2 Bio,
C for H2 Chemistry,
P for H2 Physics,
M for H2 Maths, note -
the lecture slots are all online in RI while the tutorial(s) and Science practical slots are conducted in person, by the lecturer in charge of that subject matter content.
2) However, inside Nanyang Junior College -
A) during the 1st half of the year, that is,
In Semester One, from
2024 (January to May),
lectures are conducted inside the lecture theatre (LT) premises physically, by the lecturer in charge. Why ?
Because the new JAE students just come on board, to join NYJC.
However,
come the 2nd Trimester, the 2nd half of the year; that is, from
2024 (July to October),
all lectures will be … pre-recorded.
2B) inside Nanyang JC2 second year JC, that is, from
year 2025 (January to May),
all lectures will be pre-recorded.
However,
come the 2nd half of 2025 JC2, that is, from
2025 (July to September), because
GCE "A" level is approaching, commencing sometime in late September 2025 onwards,
thus,
the lectures will be held inside the lecture theatre premises. So, for Nanyang JC, is a hybrid of both (lecture theatre teaching + pre-recorded lessons) combination. -
For 2023 O level students who are heading for other JCs like -
(Eunoia, Temasek, National, Victoria, Hwa Chong, Dunman High, River Valley High, etc) JCs,
before you choose a JC after your O level results released around 12 January next year -
you may call up the specific JC to find out more … to what extent (degree) are the lectures pre-recorded ?
Why ?
Because
all of us learn things, grasp concepts differently. Some of us are sharp with our ears’ hearing : we are auditory learners. So when you hear something, just by listening, you can catch it fast. You can follow, u are able to understand / comprehend quickly, what the lecturer is talking about. However,
others may be visual learners, not so much of auditory. That means, u must see something, say see a picture right in front of u explicitly, before u can learn. Example. A picture placed in front of u, speaks a thousand words. So, choose the correct, right appropriate Junior College to go to, that play to your STRENGTH. After all, we are all made differently -
2023 GCE O level last paper will be over, by the end of next week, 10 November.
O level results will be released next year, around 12 January 2024 -
