What are the chances for him getting a place in RI if we select RI as choice1 in our secondary 1 application?
I also am looking for a student/parent of Sec1/Sec2 (2023) student to understand more about the school culture and ask specific questions related to subjects, CCAs.

Your son will enter RI via S1 posting, because Cut off point for RI so far is at AL 6 points, never 5 points.

Sec 1 boys used which EL literature book this year? Any for Chinese lessons?

Book list stated both SEC 1 HCL and CL, how to determine child gets HCL or CL?

- vaguely recall one of the english lit book (sec 1 2023) was Rushdie's haraun & the stories...
- hcl/cl/mt/hmt/3rd languages options given in the posting letter, parents can choose

- 3rd lang booklist given separately by MOE.

Caveat Emptor for parents of Sec 1, 2024 - the size labelling on the uniforms (specially white uniform shorts) are inconsistent. reason is the uniform supplier sources from different garment factories. a size 32 from factory X can equal to a size 34 from from factory Z. ie 1 will fit, and the other will not even though both are labeled as size 32.


In Dec 2022, there were no changing room where uniforms are sold. so best to measure the kid before buying, and after buying, open up uniforms and measure them BEFORE leaving the shop. i had to change 2 out of 4 shorts and 1 out of 4 shirts.

last week (Nov 2023), i went to get new uniforms from the bookshop, and the kind auntie tells me the size labeling problem continues…

i think white shirt and white shorts can get elsewhere. cheaper, better workmanship, and better materials. the buttons on pants cracks/breaks easily. had to replace 4 buttons this year. however spouse insist on getting from bookshop / trend uniforms.

Hi, my child will be entering sec 1 next year. May I check how many sets of pe attire and full school uniform should we get? In primary schools, they can wear pe attire everyday due to the weather. What about Ri? Can they wear pe attire on days with PE throughout ?

Where else can we buy the uniforms other than from school bookshop? Thank you!

fyi. besides the uniform tops, there are house tops, polo tops, and pe tops. what was allowed on which day or which event/subject changed during course of 2023.

better to wait for required info from the parent's welcome package. they will reco minimum set required.
