Nowadays, a lot of nurses quit health care bec of the long working hours and also bec of the frequent jab they need to take
Yes, agree, I might leave the health care because of the tough working environment but it was my choice not under parent's control.

Yes leeyl many dilemmas. My dd's stamina is not the strong type. I actually would like her to try for UG, go marching maybe look wise can be a bit tougher. After cca, I see a 'withered' girl when I went to pick her up. She was on 2 days long hours cca but in sec it it going to be longer hours and more days. Sec cca cannot anyhow change right esp for O lvl students. Before psle she already said she want that cca in sec so I was hoping if can get into ip then will be good coz at least no national exam in y4. Now we need to look at points and also exam. So maybe I should pray for failed audition? And also reminded me of dd1 kept taking on competitions during psle year when some others tried to avoid. Will regret de.
If it was me, I would give it to my child. After all, it’s her childhood and even if you make her take up a non-committal cca, does it guarantee she would spend the extra time wisely? If no, you might as well let her go with her passion and who knows, it might be a viable career (or sideline) next time.
Leeyl- my girl also auditioned for photography but in the end chose smthg else as dates clash w third language. She loves photography too and was in charge of media/videography during her Sch Sch perf arts cca. Now in the current cca, she is doing photography/pubs in her exco role.

You let her try first since she wants that cca in sec, maybe she could cope... you never know. To you, exam is the king but to her - she may want her cca most. how can you pray for a failed audition so that DD would be disappointed? :siao:

We hope our kids success not fail.......

My thoughts are swaying now…I think I will keep telling dd to rethink about it. I told her we have collectively failed multiple times already. Will try to point to what other things she also want. I will not force but will try to influence. Asked dd1 to try talk to her also.

Don’t be angry with your mum lah, I believe she wants you to have an easier life. Half of the hospital nurses quit their job during COVID. It is not easy.

Having said that, you can always do a mid-career change to join the Healthcare Sector and I believe MOH will welcome you.

DD1 told me she saw a TTSH poster recruiting night-shift volunteers to assist seniors to the toilets and she asked if she can join after her A-levels. Maybe you can try to volunteer at a hospital first and see if you enjoy the experience. Maybe after trying out, if you find that you still prefer your current job. you will be thankful to your mum.
Thank you for your advice. I am too old for mid-career change lah...... 😂 May try to volunteer at hospital when I retire. Your DD1 has a kind heart....same as her mother. 😄

Not easy. When covid just happened and we have so little knowledge abt it..these groups of people need to fight in the front line. The worries of their loved ones etc.. really not easy.

I don't think it can be side career next time. Just now I suggested to her learn piano better..next time can be part time piano teacher if need to care for her kids cannot work full time. Told her also got chance to take 3 sci if she could study properly coz those are what she would like to have too.

Not forcing. Sometimes need to have some guidance. Adults also need guidance.
