Hi Reenie,

The format for 材料作文 is much more straight forward - copy the question, state your stand 立场/看法, list your arguments 分论点, proofs 论据 and reasonings 论证 then conclude 总结. Thus it's similar to 议论文 - however for 议论文, there is more room to be creative with one's opening 开头 (to score for language expression component), instead of using the straight forward 开门见山 method.

This is the comparison between O-Level CL and HCL examinable components. Do note that examinable components for WA and exams will vary across schools, esp. during Sec 1 and 2.

I'll be taking chinese o level this year, but cuz i take hcl, so i need take when I'm sec 3 (honestly this fact makes me even more nervous cuz i definitely have a lot less preparation time compared to the sec 4s) May I know your HONEST opinion on the chinese o lvls if you taken it before, would appreciate if you don't sugarcoat anything Also, i would really appreciate if you could also list what u got for your prelims for chinese and also how you think your standard of chinese is so that I know what to expect

Now being allocated to a SAP school and compulsory to do HCL in the school. A lot of new culture and information in school is totally new to my son (Eg.武則天. 三国志,== these characters are all new to my son ? ) . Is there a storybook or video that summaries most of the history culture ( not in detail )?
