My wife was in CHIJ Secondary, not Primary, but we got our girl in at Phase 2A. I'm not sure if the policy has changed. Best to just call up the school and ask the administrators there.
Hi, May I ask if edler girl goes to St Nick Sec but not Primary, does younger sister will be able to join 1 or 2A ( sibling studing or alumni of the school) category for P1 regisgtration exercise? Thanks! -

Is the elder sister in your example, a current student in sec?

If the elder sister in your example, is a current student in sec, the younger sister will be eligible to join pri in phase 1. The parent will receive a PG message on this in April. -

Probably is but not visible to parents.
According to a friend who daughter just transferred into p3 2024, he was told at point of transfer, that there was no streaming.
How else do they identify students for the Pull Out / banded / 小班 classes right at the first week of P3? -

Different lah.

Like what @phtthp mentioned, SNGS is a full school but CHIJ TP (or any other IJ for the matter) is not..
So if the elder is a current student of SNGS, Phase 1
Else
Phase 2 loh. -

I had interpreted the original post as asking about streaming into best class and mixed ability class, and not about identifying student for pull out classes etc.Stevenage\" post_id=\"2126230\" time=\"1704185790\" user_id=\"89746:
Probably is but not visible to parents.

Hence my reply that it was told to 2024 p3 transfer parents that there was no streaming.
Previously when there was streaming into best class and mixed ability class, though not explicitly mentioned to current parents, it was told to the transfer parents.
So I think we have different interpretations of streaming, hence the difference in opinion about whether or not it is done. -
Hi, could anyone enlighten about the class committee roles at p1? My girl said she’s in welfare committee but not monitor. She’s not sure what she should be doing… I also cannot help her cos I don’t understand the roles. She said 3 girls in welfare, 3 in environment, 3 monitors…

Hi, I am new to this. For 2027 enrollment, when should I apply for PV?
Just to clarify if unable to secure in 2B, can apply for 2C again for balloting? -

Yes you can. Each phase in the registration is completely independent of what you did in earlier phases. That said, CHIJ St Nicholas is a very hot school, guaranteed to require balloting <1km in Phase 2C. Good luck,

Does anyone know, how many 2024-P4 transfer students joined the school?

Hi,
I am looking to register my kid into SNGS (P1).phtthp\" post_id=\"2126439\" time=\"1704429220\" user_id=\"35251:
I saw a review here in Google Maps (not the most reliable of sources, but it's the most recent I have seen) which notes that: https://maps.app.goo.gl/L7XKq4xnnBtL6Xf66There is a change of VP (Academic), this year (2024), to
Mdm Low Chia Yee.
Mdm Baey Ee-Lyn :
the ex, former VP (Academic) has already left St Nick, become Principal of Ahmad Ibrahim primary school wef 2024.
Thus,
give the new VP (Academic) sometime, to come out with the new
2024 Secondary School calendar.
She is new to St Nick. Perhaps, her style of calendar management is different from that of ex Mdm Baey.
My daughters used to study here. It was a great school during my elder daughter's time when Mrs Tan Wai Lan was the principal. But very disappointing during my younger daughter's time. Lots of academic pressure and becoming more elitist with little regards for student well being. When ordinary children make genuine harmless mistake for the first time, rather than giving them a chance to learn, they come down very hard on the kids. I still hear about such incidents.
This was a review from 2013 in KSP about SNGS' culture back then:dino3112\" post_id=\"1148163\" time=\"1384822160\" user_id=\"17366:
I also saw this post by zac's mum that one's kid has to be \"brilliant in her studies\", which implies that academic standard and pressure is quite high there. Maybe I'm over-reading into things, but this might also imply that it's a high pressure, \"sink or swim\" situation there, which only the most academically driven or talented thrive in. And if you're just an average or a slightly above average kid, you'll \"suffer in SNGS\".zac's mum\" post_id=\"1974002\" time=\"1588641006\" user_id=\"53606:
It’s not so much underrated, it’s just way too hard to get in! Year after year, there’s only the bare minimum 20 seats for 2B and 2C. The brave applicants who are willing to try are more times that number. So your odds are seriously low. But then this is true for several SAP schools all over the country.
SNGS has a very strong collaborative sisterly culture. The unofficial motto is 姐妹同心. Sisters (and everyone in school is considered a sister) help each other because they are “of one heart”. Versus the more individualistic + English-speaking culture of SCGS, and the help our church help society + extremely English-speaking culture of MGS.
It depends on which environment you prefer your girl to spend 10 years of her formative life in. Do note that academic standards are extremely high, including for Chinese language. If your girl is not brilliant in her studies since kindergarten, she’ll probably suffer in SNGS.
I understand that SNGS has a rich culture and heritage of academic excellence to maintain, thus some degree of stress is understandable. How's the overall school environment like in terms of stress and pressure under the current Principal and executive staff?
I just wanted to check the reliability of the latest review from Google Map? To what extent is the current stress and pressure there, relative to the one in 2013 (which happened to fall under the leadership of Mrs Tan Wai Lan from 2012-2016)? Has the 姐妹同心 culture of mutual guidance or overall mental and emotional well-being of students been de-emphasised in the pursuit of academic KPIs?
If there are more feedback and comments about the current (or even recent past several years) school culture in SNGS that would be helpful indeed!
Thank you!
