Hi I’m looking at the MOE DSA website to search for which school can my daughter apply for concert band.

      https://www.moe.gov.sg/secondary/dsa/eligibility

Now I’m confused. Schools like NJC and TJC didn’t come out when I ticked for IP. But it came out as concert band without IP. I thought these schools only offer IP? The only school that came out when I ticked IP is SCGS. Please enlighten me, first time applying for DSA.
Njc website shows concert band for both IP DSA and JC DSA on their website. Another way to check is using MOE school finder and filter by choice of DSA

Both NJC and TJC are Co-Ed, when you search the moe website, the selection limited to only Concert Band -Girls (IP) or Concert Band - Boys (IP), but not for \"Concert Band - Boys & Girls (IP)\"

Thank you for the replies! I don’t see any option of Concert band - Boys & Girls (IP)…I wonder why…

Coz TJC and NJC are not dual track schools, single track IP, so no need to specify. If you choose concert band boys IP, you will see schools listed offering dual track, hence applicants have to specify IP or O or no preference in their applications.

              Hi parents,

Any of your child succeeded in using Science to enter
              1) Temasek JC
              2) Dunman High
              3) NUS High

How were your kids scores like in P5 SA2?

Do they consider the Non-weighted assessment in first half of P6 Sem 1 results too?
For NUSHigh, the results from the selection tests are key . Then, they look at the following:
\"The shortlisted Year 1 applicants and all Year 3 applicants are to submit the following scanned documents in Jpeg or PDF format before attending the selection camp / interview.

              1. P4 to P6 report books (Year 1) / P6 to Sec 2 report books (Year 3)
              2. Achievements certificates (optional)
              3. Awards & scholarships certificates (optional)
              4. Any other activities outside schools that showed the applicants’ passion and talent in Math and/or Science (optional)

              https://www.nushigh.edu.sg/admissions/year-1-and-3-admissions/year-1-admissions/
More on what they are looking for or to assess if there is a fit for your child
Do note the process for 2024 will include the selection test first - these talks were for Covid year but still useful reference about what their considerations on fit

DSA was never meant to be fair. How many families can afford to spend money/time for their children to learn fencing, golf, canoeing during primary school? And these are all DSA talent areas for top secondary schools

Well, good point, but I think they are talking about fairness amongst those that qualifies for the different roles.

These are the DSA statistics, group by most popular DSA: no. of schools offering it and also group by types of streams: IP , mainstream or specialise schools.

You can see among the most popular DSA domains, many are offered by sizable number of “top” IP schools. These DSA domains talents are our non “atas” cca. And primary school students can be exposed to them easily. Not true top schools are only associated with atas domains

I don't deny that most DSA domains are accessible to ordinary people, such as math Olympiad, drawing, bilingual... That's why these popular domains are so competitive now. Every year, there are thousands of applicants for the math DSA at RI/HCI, competing for just a few dozen spots.

However, those “atas” domains are the real backdoors. Even if these domains only admit one or two students, as long as you have money and time, your child can easily DSA into a top school through these \"backdoors\", without having to compete with others. I don't think this is very fair.

Of course, the fairest is always the PSLE.
