Agree. It's difficult and distracting enough to make a marriage work out well - every couple needs time, space and experiences to build their marriage and its unlikely that parental presence would be constructive.
Agree. We advised our daughter NOT to stay with us too, at least in the earlier years of marriage. They need to work things out for themselves without us looking over their shoulders. Once they are stable in their marriage (and parenting, if they have kids), living together may be an option in the future. Fortunately, all the parents and grandparents live in the western side, which made choosing an area to live easier. -

Oh thanks..that's what I thought I read few years ago..think landed included when rent out, there's a certain number of tenants+own family members allowed.
Yes if renting out - i think it's 8? check URA guidelines for pte properties, and HDB guidelines for HDB flats.
So I kind of wondering for say 3 storey house with different entrances.. can we actually rent out individual units or even sell individual units? -
Actually if siblings can live together on a plot of land, it should be very nice to share costs at same time have own privacy like each family lives in one storey.

When you rebuild a house to have separate entrances, you will have to seek BCA and URA's approvals. If you are in a pure landed estate (i.e. not mixed landed estate) as per the URA masterplan, you cannot split your single unit into apartments. But there is a possibility of converting a bungalow into a pair of semi-Ds etc. If you are in a mixed landed zone, there is a chance you can convert say a bungalow, into 8 apartments with 8 different strata titles. You will have to pay development charges and what not.

Haha, have you heard of real life stories?

You will be surprised how many disagreements there are among family members on things like MCST apportionments and what works to do. Some parents rebuild a house splitting into different units for each child, on condition each child is not allowed to sell their unit until the parents pass on. And guess what happens down the road - things can work out well, much as they can turn awry too. -
I wonder how much is the annual property tax for the landed nowadays?

True also..each child already not same pattern. Dont say after including their spouse. We should just think for ourselves first.. like ease to move around etc.
