All About Parent Volunteers (PV)

If I do parent volunteer on year 2024, then i move house to the nearest cluster by year 2025. When year 2026, should I register as parent volunteer within 1km distance or parent volunteer outside 2km?

If u want to do PV, then start applying to the schools’ (yes, more than one) PV dept or in-charge directly. They need to accept you first. No accept, no need to think further. Move on to next choice. -

Yes... I think the question is unclear.

In any case, part of the consideration that schools may have is your proximity to the school. You may have to move first or secure your address, before applying for PV. -
Hi, anyone know when and how do I apply as a PV for my kid who is born in 2020?

Email your enquiry directly to the school(s).

I'm looking up on MOE's website regarding using grandparent's address for school registration, that there is a 30-month stay requirement from the start of the P1 Registration Exercise. My question is, if my parents are staying within 1km of a school, but I am not, and my kid is staying with my parents. Am I still able to go join the PV program and declare distance under 1km?

Even if your parents are staying right next to the school, they will still rate your distance 1-2km away as long as you use your parents address for registration.

If you want to join the PV programme, you must do it before June 30th, and that's assuming your child is registering NEXT year, and not THIS year. You may be able to get into Phase 2B then, but the distance is considered 1-2km away if you used your parents' address. -
Hi there, my kid is born in 2021 and we are within 1km from Pei Chun. I saw on Pei Chun school website that we can only apply for parent volunteer in September 2025. I was wondering if:
- We only have one year to fulfill the 80 hours quota, before my kid needs to register for P1?
- Is online application on school website the only way to apply?
- Can both daddy and mummy apply together and hit the 80 hours quota together, or the quota is calculated separately?
- Will other volunteering work such as grassroots help to contribute to the 80 hours also?
Thank you! -

1. MOE PV requirement for eligibility to Phase 2B is: Give at least 40 hours of voluntary service by 30 June of the year of P1 registration.

However, schools can set more stringent requirements, i.e. 80hrs or more instead of 40hrs. Some schools allow you to do it in 1 year, others in 2 years. You should confirm with PCPS the exact requirements and details.
2. You should check with PCPS on the exact method of application.
3. Daddy and mummy share one account, meaning daddy and mummy will contribute to the hours together. That said, it's unlikely schools will allow both parents to volunteer at the same time.
4. No. GRL is a different route and does not factor into the x hours required by the school. -

Thanks for the information! You mean both parents can volunteer and share one account? Hmm... better check on this with the school.
