Based on what you had siad, you are already in the PV of ZDPS. Maybe if would be good to check when can you actually can start clocking the hours. We have submitted PV application to Zhangde and they replied that they have received our application and will contact us once there is program which need our help.
I'm not sure whether it mean we are accepted as PV? Anyone can help? Should I call the school to check or is it too early? My girl will need to register in 2011.
Many thanks! -
For me, despite calling the admin office numerous times since Nov last year, I was told to wait for call from HOD.
Finally in March this year, I became so worried that I asked the admin for the email address of their Vice Principal & received a reply from her almost instantly. That’s when I manage to start performing PV & had completed 40 hours end of April. -
Thank you all for the reply. To play safe, I better call up the school to check. Thanks!

Hi all,
Any idea when the open house for RMPS is?
I went to the ZDPS open house on 3-July and liked the school and facilities. I was unable to go to the GESPS open house, though. Any feedback on that one?
TIA -

RMPS doesn't have any open house.nansk:
The last time I visited open house of both schools, I liked ZDPS more, probably because it was more organised. When I was at GESPS, nobody was there to answer any queries.I went to the ZDPS open house on 3-July and liked the school and facilities. I was unable to go to the GESPS open house, though. However, we do have a few fellow forummers here with children in GESPS. If you could just browse through the earlier pages, you would be able to see comments on this school.
Are you registering for your child this year? -
Hi,
Thanks a lot for your reply and info.
Yes, my dd is 5.5 yo. Right now I have nothing on my mind but regn for pri 1
I am surprised that RMPS has no open house; I suppose the school believes their reputation is enough to convince parents to register.
Its too bad that you didn’t find anyone to answer your queries at GESPS last year; that must have affected your opinion of the school, I guess.
I agree ZDPS’s open house is well-organized. There were pri 1 pupils in each class to present their own work and older ones outside to direct the visitors to the classrooms/canteen etc. One could see that the teachers and students had put in a lot of hard work to prepare for the open house.
They opened up all the pri1 classrooms and displayed the children’s work in each classroom. One classroom highlighted Maths work, another highlighted English work, yet another one displayed the music and PE classes and yet another had art work based on the Stellar Language Arts program. (I saw those "big books" for the first time; I was rather curious about them after reading about them on this forum.)
The children’s work that was displayed was very good (and somewhat intimidating a standard for me as a parent of a 5yo who is reluctant to write or draw). Of course, I realize that it was probably the best work that was was on display (the best paintings, the best handwriting books,) whereas, I am sure, the average work must be of a much more attainable quality (for my dd).
The pri 1 pupils had been "coached" on what to say about their books & work, and they said it in a very rehearsed-sortof way that wasn’t appealing (to me atleast). In one of the classrooms, I finally asked two of the boys to show me their work (which was hidden under a few other papers) and, while their handwriting was not neat, the oral response I got from them was much more genuine and interesting compared to the earlier, rehearsed speeches. They really opened up about what they had written, how & why they had enjoyed the particular activity etc.
There was a teacher in every classroom to answer our queries. Of course, while they were answering our queries, there were other parents being "ignored", so to say. So if you ask those parents, you’ll probably not get favourable feedback of the open house
I would have preferred to be able to view the music room, gym room and the upper level classrooms as well, but I suppose that would have meant too much work for the teachers & students.
Despite the rain, we went to see all the gardens in the school and the tennis/basketball courts. Overall, my hubby and I liked ZDPS.
HTH other parents. -

The fact that the school could train even P1 students to present so well is perhaps an indication of its quality.
BTW, what is your distance from ZDPS and RMPS? Now that you have attended the open house of ZDPS, have you come to a decision on which school to choose for your child? -
We live within 1 km of ZDPS, RMPS and CHIJ (Kellock). We will decide after we have attended the CHIJ (Kellock) open house later this month. Will keep you posted, in case you are interested

Wow! You are spoilt for choice, then!
Do you qualify for P2B in any of the schools?
I didn't know that CHIJ Kellock has open house, too. When I called previously, the staff said the school \"don't organise open house\".
Yes, please keep us all posted. Even if I am not interested, I am sure other parents will appreciate your feedback.

Wow 1Km within the 3 schools? ZDPS, RMPS & CHIJ (Kellock)
Guess the easiest to enter would be CHIJ (Kellock) & ZDPS (1Km) based on past balloting history. RMPS would surafce out again 1Km for balloting.
Do exercise your judgement wisely.! All the best!
