No regret for us too. Dd enjoying learning now, got time to pursue own interests and had a good childhood. Couldn't ask for more.
It’s either parents stress when kids are 12yo or later when they are 16yo (O level).
Parents IP-associated stress is largely due to the government’s policy. Thanks to Tony Tan we have this elitist IP thing. If not, everyone gets to be reshuffled at O level, how good.
My DD1 was from SCGS Pri which has affiliation to SCGS Sec O level. If not for the IP thing, I think I should be the one who don’t even know what is stress! LOL! But…..
I also think those affliated pri sch girls look more carefree at our sch. Without having to worry abt getting into IP, yes can reduced a lot stress. -

For the young main the in article, I hope he will find something more to do eventually. I expect he needs some time to recover and consider what to do, but just living as a \"retiree\" is not something I would encourage for the decades from 30 to 60. There is a real danger that he will reach 60, look back, and regret that he didn't do more - not necessarily to have earned more or climbed other ladders, but something of service to society or others. -

I agree with the last sentence.
In short, during schooling, the grades count. During working, the grades ie salaries count.
We are tied to grades
Sometimes, the society needs to have some \"grading \" to reward those hard working people. I cannot image if there is no grading among the same post of staff in my company, then everyone one will be a lazy cat. -

Just watched the cna insider interview.
In short, he said, exams are for citing students in the correct environment at correct learning pace. Hmmmm… If so, why need to change from tscore to AL? Without psle or delay psle, students would not be learning at the correct pace or delay the chance to learn at correct pace.
Actually, i hope someone can review if the same approach of mixing normal streams students with express stream by subjects can be also used for mixing ip with express by subjects. For students who are talented in eg maths, but weaker in lang esp CL, they can still be learning at advanced level like ip students in their talented subjects. Still be given a chanve to participate in maths talent program with the ip students.
For ip students who may also be stronger in one area, but not in another area, they may not be talented in all subjects too. They can take a slower pace to learn the weaker subjects. Win win for all.
Instead of a clear cut IP for all subjects, we can have an advanced G4 level, express G3, G2 and G1 level for each subject.
But yes, logistically it will be a nightmare for the schools or policy makers.
