Hi, wondering if any parents have any experience with NUSH Accelerated Enrichment Courses offered to P6 kids? My boy is offered CM1331A and PC1331A. Any recommendations on which course to take?

Call the school ask them if your boy can speak to seniors who have accelerated and taken these subjects. Generally it would be your kid goes on to Chem CM2…. Or Physics PC2 when joining year 1. Gradually if they keep the pace, they will be reading Uni modules by Y4/5. It usually coincides on the Olympiad the child will focus on but also be aware they may change their mind or start to prefer CS or Bio as they progress into the school. -

Was your child in IMSO team? Otherwise these courses fill up pretty fast. I applied within few hrs for Robotics last year but couldn’t get it. Heard Chemistry one is fun too.

Nope, PC1331 is Robotics enrichment and CM1331 is Chemistry Potpourri. They're enrichment classes i.e. basically courses for students to have fun in (electives are the extra classes that are academic like olympiads, computer science, et cetera). Also, you can't accelerate these courses so if you take PC1331 in P6 then you can only take PC1332 (Robotics II) in the 2nd semester of Year 1. NUSH typically doesn't accelerate many students for the science core courses (which are the actual academic courses) and there are typically only 1 or 2 if there are any at all, unlike Maths where you can have up to 20+ accelerated students.

Hi, any idea how many students from NUSHigh were offered Medicine both locally and overseas?

11% of cohort will imply 120 each from R and HC if they hv similar acceptance rate.
There are 21 students in Medicine from NUSH class of 2022, 11 students in YLL, 8 students in LKC and 2 students overseas. This represent 11% of the cohort, not only a few or small percentage.
And nobody came in their school uniform during white coat ceremony.
Numbers for Class of 2023 not known yet. -

Thank you for clarifying. Yes, for enrichment like potpourri etc, there is still opportunity to elect these when in Y1. Just have hv fast fingers as it’s first come first served.

My previous posts referred to accelerated modules in core subjects. Yes, agree math is typically the accelerated module and I find it there are pros and cons. This is the subject which the students have early exposure to and so if they start specialising, they may not hv the bandwidth to explore the other core subjects. From observation, I see quite a few start strong in math and then burn out in later years. Then, there are the students who were just given space to explore everything then selected for extra training when the core subject grade is good … these then actually find the new science or CS passions and do very well too. -
Thanks Lucid, any idea is NUSH recognised for Medicine by the Australian Universities?

You are mistaken.

NUS High is only a Secondary school, from aged 13 to aged 18.
Maximum age of students here, is only up to aged 18.
NUS High is Not a university. So, how can it be a medical school, here ?
If u are looking for a university, should check out NUS itself, and not NUS High.
To answer the second part of your qn, u should check out yourself. Do some basic background homework -
Under the umbrella of Australian Public Health Authority, clarify & confirm :-
Is NUS Medical school (Yong Loo Lin), recognised by the Australian Government Public Health Authority Medical Board, over there in Australia ? -
