Thank you for the informative and prompt reply! This is helpful
B) usually the 1km calculation will be taken from the permanent site’s address. I don’t expect this to be any different for MSHS.
A) unless the school is going to double the number of p1 places when it goes co-ed, the math indicates that boys will have less chance overall to enter. However, the places arent specifically segregated into male and female seats, so it is possible that the first few batches may not see keen uptake by female applicants.
I do feel kinda sad for Cedar Primary though (its status will be back to a fallback option for those balloted out).
-

Given the falling birthrate, the number of boys applying to MSHS might also decrease. Thus, the chance overall to enter might not significantly change.

I am not so concern about Cedar Primary though as Bidadari Estate, i.e. properties < 2km from Cedar Primary, is huge and high density housing! Not everyone likes to ballot, or to be in a missionary school, or to enrol in a SAP school (especially if Chinese isn't your mother tongue). -

You are mistaken.
Why do you want to send your child to MSHS?
noticed you mentioned top 5, is there a ranking of schools somewhere? interested to find out
There is NO top 5 primary schools, in Singapore.
Take Note
There is NO ranking whatsoever, amongst Primary, Secondary schools, Junior Colleges, in Singapore. -

So far only boys sch turning coed. No girls sch turning yet. Is there any specific reason? Do we have more boys schools than girls?

According to paragraphs 9 and 10 of the above press release:
“Rebuilding of Maris Stella High School
9. MOE will rebuild Maris Stella High School (MSHS) to provide better facilities and enhance students' educational experience. From 2027 to 2029, the campuses of MSHS (Primary) and MSHS (Secondary) will be rebuilt at their permanent sites at 25 Mount Vernon Road. During the rebuilding process, MSHS (Primary) will hold at the former MacPherson Primary School site, while MSHS (Secondary) will hold at the former Bedok North Secondary School site. Please refer to Annex A for more information on MSHS' holding sites.
10. To better serve the needs of local residents, MSHS (Primary), with agreement from MSHS Ltd's Board of Directors and the Marist Brothers Provincial Council, will turn co-educational when it moves to its holding site in 2027. MSHS (Primary) will also look into increasing its Primary 1 intake in 2027. To accommodate this larger intake, MSHS (Primary) will also operate on a partial single-session at the holding site during the rebuilding of its permanent campus. When its permanent campus is ready, tentatively in 2030, MSHS (Primary) will revert to operating on a single-session basis. MSHS (Secondary) will remain as an all-boys school for now.”
-

I recall having compiled & posted in ksp a list of all-boys primary schools & all-girls primary schools before, many years ago. Can’t find it though. I think more listed in girls category than boys.

Ah, found the lists here in this thread:
https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=635
9 (soon to be 7) boys schools and 14 girls schools.
Canossa Convent Primary School (all girls) was converted to co-ed by welcoming boys in 2019:

Ok... they also removed the \"convent\" moniker from the school...

Could be there is more demand for all girls primary school. Or parents are more willing to put their little boys in coed primary schools. -

find it hard to accept the idea of Maris Stella primary school accommodating girls. This time is ... boys taking in girls, into their school.
Thanks Zac's mum.

In the most recent case, which primary school was it, the other way round ? That is, girls accepting boys into their school, become co-ed ?
Is Cannosa Convent primary (All Girls school), turned into Canossa Catholic primary, to take in boys, turn co-ed ? -
Redevelopment comes with strings attached. If money was not a constraint, I doubt the school will turn Co-Ed. School turning Co-Ed usually came after redevelopment. You can see the trend based on the mission schools mentioned here turning Co-ed
