DSA for JC/University
-
Hi Everyone,
Anyone has experience DSA CLEP into NYJC?
Thank you. -
Hi Everyone, may i know how many schools / JC can you DSA for? Any limit in number of domains per school? Any limit in the total number of applications?
-
The submission to DSA for JCs, are individual forms. And the JCs process individually. So, no limit.
However, u should be realistic, in terms of your time management. As u know, Sec 4 is a very busy, hectic year.
If u are short listed for interview, the interview dates can clash directly into your preparation exam time, for your Sec 4 Prelim. So, just take care of your own time management. Ask yourself, maximum: how many interviews do u think you yourself can cope to attend honestly, realistically, while at the same time, preparing / sitting for Prelim exam ? Work backwards how much time u have on hand & from there, u yourself will know, roughly Total how many DSA application(s) u want to attempt. -
Any idea when the DSA opens for the JC for this year ?

I was extremely perturbed to read about this:
“Whenever the victim refused, the man suggested he would be dropped from the school team, knowing that the boy was hoping to enrol in junior college through the Direct School Admission scheme based on his sporting talent.” -

Made us wonder, should private coaches (non MOE staff) even have the authority to determine the outcome of students selection? Yes, teachers could get inputs from them but for them to have sole control does not sit right with me

Does sg even have a sexual offenders registry?

And i think (!) MOE does basic screening checks when hiring staff, but it seems not for external vendors even if they work with students directly. -
I think we should have a sexual offenders registry like the US.
At least MOE can have access to it during recruitment to keep out black sheep. When my daughters want to get married, can also do a background check. 😂
Maybe schools should have done more to protect the boys (in terms of educating them) because boys may feel more embarrassed if such sexual abuse were to happen to them as compared to girls. -

Even if we are talking abt a generic scenario, no one knows if anyone has some dark secrets which are yet to be discovered and found guilty etc, our system should not allow non moe staff to get directly involved in students related matters. There should always be a few sch teachers in between external vendors and our children.

So far, from those around, my understanding is teachers are always present when external vendors are dealing with our children. Even during covid in zoom meetings, sch teacher will attend together at eg chess trainings conducted by external trainers.
Coach only comes in to train the technical aspect. The management of students, decisions making, students development and logistics are under the charge of the teachers and school. Isn't this the case? They should not be given so much influence on students matters.
