If my mum were around, I would celebrate with her.

I think we are on “different frequencies” lah, you misinterpreted my post and I am not affected by the past.

I was just sharing my observation that humans can say no need to celebrate Mother’s Day but they are not happy when really nobody celebrates with them.

So how do you celebrate Mother’s Day with your mum? My family with my siblings, parents and my 96yo grandma are having buffet now 😄
We don't celebrate Mother Day because it is always very crowded outside. DS and DIL are celebrating with his MIL.

Mother’s Day can be celebrated as everyone does on that designated day, days before or days after. It can be celebrated outside at normal or posh restaurants, or cook-in at home with whatever favourite food anyone can dish up & make everyone treasure those moments together. I used to cook & hv the entire extended family eat together at home coz it’s comfortable physically as well as a place we can freely chat & wont disturb other patrons with our noises or children running around. I enjoyed those days but can’t do as much as I age.

At dinner last night, BIL had only one carnation for MIL, but she felt every mother at the table shld be given one. So she jokingly pass the carnation to the next mother every half-hour. Then she jokes which mother shld the carnation follows for the night & when we meet in church today, it can follow the next mother in Q. That’s how she spreads her motherly love. Lots of fun fr an 80+ matriarch! We all shared a cake niece baked. Alr passed the baton to her. We also had SIL’s mum with us as part of the big family as she’s a widower living alone. So, hopefully next generation can find all & any occasion to hv large family get-together to catchup & bond.

Whatever we do, impt is the heart that value, treasure and expressed to those who painstakingly perform that womanly duties that fathers can’t or don’t do by nature or as a habit.

Can buy whole frozen roast duck, trotter etc and keep…just put into oven for less than half an hr. If the skin of the pork belly is clean, use airfryer can have roast pork le within 2 hrs … I keep few packets of kimchi at home…the other evening I watched mukbang, just thaw meat, pour kimchi add some other ingredients if you want & water can eat already. Lesser supermarket trips nowadays

My family is similar - my mother stopped cooking about 2 decades ago, and my father won't eat my cooking (prejudiced - my cooking is not that bad!). We mostly dabao from nearby eateries and eat at their home, and occasionally eat at restaurants. And for special occasions, my brother will dabao and we eat at his home - and the food he buys is always very good.

The problem is my parents don't eat dabao and re-heat food except during Covid 19 period. They go to a cafe for breakfast and a restaurant in the same Club House for a late lunch everyday. They may have some bread in the evening as they cannot eat much at night.

Like to dabao/own cooked also ok ba so long as that’s what we ownself want…just that don’t say ok but actually not ok and become unhappy.

Will feel stress like me I think not that ok … so need to solve the issue. Problems usually have roots…I think I found some.
