I have heard from a friend that her DS applied for DSA Music to Cat High, and the school counter offered him a CO in Humanities because the school said that they can see his potential not just in Music alone. And the principal also assured the parents that DS would still be able to attend MEP after joining the school because he has already demonstrated his suitability during the DSA audition. This was back when the school didn't have Humanities on their DSA list yet, and the child is currently in Year 4. Not sure how widespread this sort of practice is though.
Any instances of schools making offers of a different domain from the one applied? Eg apply under leadership but offered academic instead? -

Was her son from GEP? Otherwise how would a primary school student have exposure in Humanities or enter any competitions related to that?

Nope, not in GEP because not strong in Maths. It was a counter offer with a call from the VP (not P) after the school had the DSA interview with the child. His parents were very surprised as well because they didn't know such a thing could happen. Their original intention was purely for DSA Music only 😅

I see. Maybe during the interview they asked him what his hobbies/interests were and he was strongly interested in the area of Humanities

Yes, I believe that was likely how it went down during the interview. So it's good proof that the interview sessions do play a significant role in how the schools select the suitable candidates. Perhaps similar to how the NUSH selection team does it as well.

That’s y, unless one know every dsa scenario, don’t just categorically say 100% impossible - there’s always rare success case once in a while.
Another one is SOTA, go audition for music performance - gets offer music creative (it’s even in the faq) -
Hi all, would anyone have insights on the Innovation DSA category at NYGH? We missed the Open House. Is it a fairly new domain? Wondering what criteria they are looking for (eg Maths and Science results) and how Innovation can actually be demonstrated.

Actually NUSH doesnt look at results. All applicants are based on performance on their own selection tests.
3) NUS High
P5 SA2. AL9
Yes, NUSH will require applicants to submit their Primary 6 SA1 results.
Perhaps due to Covid years, no written tests or camp test so results were submit via the same DSA portal.
PSLE resutls dont matter in NUSH as they dont take part in the open Exercises. DSA 100% on their own selection process. -
Hi,
This year I’m trying for DS thru’ DSA but for NuS or SST we must fill in through DSA-sec portal only. So does that mean we can select max of 3 school choices only?
Also would like to know anyone have got admitted into SST thru DSA. Can share some idea how to prepare for selection test to SST ? -

NUSH has the Supplementary Intake Exercise (SIE) which takes place after the release of the PSLE results. This is subject to vacancies available. The required total AL mentioned in their website is 4-6.
As such, even if the child fails to enter NUSH via DSA, he/she can try to enter via the SIE if the conditions are met.
- There are available vacancies.
- Total AL 4-6.
My colleague's daughter entered NUSH via the SIE after PSLE in 2022. 😀 -
Friend's kid in Cat High yr 4 and entered through Humanities dsa, so it's not true that the school didn't have this dsa category then....I'm guessing there may be a lapse of info from your friend.

As I mentioned, the child was applying for DSA Music for MEP back then. Based on what was shared to me, Humanities wasn't on the DSA list back then but DSA Humanities was what the VP offered him. I suppose he can be considered the first batch that the school took in via DSA Humanities. If you look at the school's website, they do have DSA Humanities now, And as to whether the school did already have DSA Humanities on their official list back then, I can't be 100% sure since I don't work in that school and not an avid follower of Cat High's website or DSA domain offerings.. But I'm sharing this example because previously someone asked if it was possible for a candidate to apply for 1 domain and end up getting an offer for another domain. Perhaps if u want to verify when or how long Cat High has had Humanities on their DSA list, best is to ask the school directly.

Hi,
My DS just won a gold medal at the NSG in a sporting event and he just received an invitation from RI for DSA via his school. His AL score in P5 was 15. Do any of you think his profile has a low chance of meeting RI’s requirements for DSA? We are unsure if we should use one of his school choices on this if it might be a total waste. Thanks! -

Congratulations! I think DSA applications' success rate depends on the quality and volume of applicants, and you'll never know unless you try.

Any parent know of high AL score during P5/6 and accepted into RI/RGS/HCI/NYGH via DSA? Care to share what was that AL score too. So parent here has additional info to make informed decision whether to try DSA into these schools.
-
in fact, during the recent RI open house, a year 1 student went on stage to share his unique DSA experience.
He DSA-ed for Track (hurdles I think)
went for trails
was advised to try for Javelin
went back for Javelin trials the next day
Got his CO
Got Javelin Gold for the recent NSG. -
Hi anyone has any idea what is
the domain Engineering Innovation and Solution offered by NJC secondary? What porfolio is needed and what is it about? For kids who score ok for maths and science with Robotic background can apply? -

Thank you for the reply! Maybe my question wasn't clear enough. bbbday has made it clearer though. Hope to hear from other parents who can share their experience.
