All About Pre-school Math Enrichment

isn't kumon a mind training rather than maths enrichment?
:? -
IMHO, Kumon does not "teach" concepts. It gives the child a lot of practice, builds up the discipline of doing maths regualry, trains the mind on concepts the child has imbibed, so is paced on what the child can already understand. It helps in the doing"it" than in why ?

Anyone knows anything about the Formation Centre which provides enrichment in math and science ?

Hi how about the Jelic program under MPM? Any moms have experience in this? Thinking of sending my 4 and 5 yr old girls to try that as an exposure to Math before doing the ‘proper’ MPM program. Anyone with advice on this?
Thanks. -

jeanieg:
My boy attended Jelic close to 1 year at TP. He started out when he was 2.5 years old. Both my hubby and myself are very happy with his progress. Jelic is more on logical thinking as this is a basic foundation to primary school maths. At nursery, the teachers are surprised that he can graps the basic mathematics concept. My boy loves Jelic alot.Hi how about the Jelic program under MPM? Any moms have experience in this? Also what I like about Jelic/ MPM, the lessons are structured to individual level. Even if you miss the lesson, you can replace it anytime. So this flexibility is a plus point.
I have not explored other enrichment centers pertaining to Maths. But what I know is MPM follows the MOE curriculum. Also I have been advised that it is a plus point to start with Jelic before proceeding to MPM, as this will help to bridge the gap at your own pace. Rather than straight away jump into MPM level.
Hopefully it helps. -
Thank you for the feedback. Sorry only just saw it! I think i will most likely enrol them in Jelic if the teachers there agree after the assessment. Not sure if they think my girls are too old, esp my 5 yr old.
How about CS Montessori Math programme? Anyone tried that before? Just found a branch near my home and so thinking of that as Jelic program I can attend (due to schedule constraints) is in Toa Payoh while live in Upper Bkt Timah. Any advise, anyone? -
Hello jeanieg,
Even if your gal takes up jelic, i suppose the ctr will not let her takes the full course of Jelic. But will start off the advance stage of jelic so as to let her have a feel of the exercises and also to boost her confidence. I am sure in no time, she will go into MPM. That is what happen to my colleagues' kids as well.
I really don't know about the other centers of MPM is. But I must said that the TP branch is good so far for me. The teachers are patient and really bother to talk to the parents who are keen to know their child performance.
But do take note that their vacancy are usually quite full. -
Hi Laughingcat
Thanks for the reply. Last I called TP branch they had 2 vacancies so I guess I’d better act fast! -
Anyone has children attending E&P Learning Place?
Can share on how the lesson is conducted and also the fees?
Thank you.
