Rooted, Resilient & Ready - a book for Returning Singaporean families
-
@slmkhoo Yay yay yay! I am ready to support you! Sorry i dunno abt professional publicity but i can spread the word in my limited social circle haha.
-
@zac-s-mum Thanks for the encouragement! Yes, word of mouth is probably the way with a book like this. It isn’t going to be a bestseller!
I started thinking about physical distribution this morning - looks like I’ll need to work out the best way to mail books out. I don’t intend to have people come and collect from my home! -
@slmkhoo There are courier services that will collect & deliver the books for you, but u will probably have to charge the customer a delivery fee at checkout. At least that’s how some online bookstores like Epigram do it. Alternatively, you can go down to Singpost to mail each package out individually, i think they charge by weight.
-
@zac-s-mum Singpost charges $2 for small packages up to 2kg, and they sell stick-on labels which can be purchased in packs of 20. My idea is to buy padded envelopes and stick on these labels, and they can posted in normal post boxes. And yes, I’ll have to add this cost to the price of the book.

you could post in the overseas SG whatsapp or FB groups or telegram chats.
or ask Singapore Global Network if they can give your book a shoutout in their email -
@ceeelle Thanks for the suggestions. Will look into those.
-
@slmkhoo Someone I know who published an e-book did some interviews to promote the book. Perhaps you may wish to consider.
-
@Coolkidsrock2 Thanks for the suggestion. I guess I may have to at some point. I think I need to find someone to be my PR person! Left to myself, I’m more likely to hide from public view. I had to think many, many times before deciding to share here and to my personal contacts!
-
Finally! The book has been published and print books are now available!
Read more about the book at https://tinyurl.com/Rooted-Resilient-Ready, and if you’re interested in getting hold of a copy, email [email protected] to purchase copies. Only print books are available at present, but there are plans to make ebooks available online sometime in 2025.
If you know of any Singaporean families living overseas with their kids, or families considering going overseas for any reason, please spread the word! Thanks!
