Happy Saturday! Hope everyone is having a great weekend! We have just released a new article discussing why journaling is a superpower for young students.

For all parents and students, some key highlights on why journaling is so powerful:

            1. It builds self-awareness:
When children write about their thoughts, feelings, and experiences, they begin to notice patterns. They start to recognise what makes them happy, what stresses them, and how they react to challenges.
            2. It strengthens mental health:
Journaling provides an outlet for emotions. A child who writes, “I was nervous before my spelling test, but I felt better after practising with Mum,” is learning to process anxiety in a healthy way.
            3. It improves communication and writing skills:
Unlike formal schoolwork, journaling is free-flowing. There are no marks, no red pen corrections, just words that belong to the child. Over time, this practice naturally improves vocabulary, sentence structure, and storytelling.

Please let us know what you think!

Happy Monday! Hope all families and parents have had a great start to the week! We have also released a new article discussing why it’s important to teach kids the power of delayed gratification.

Some key points from the article we released:

                1. Psychologists often point to the famous Stanford Marshmallow Experiment, where children were given a choice: eat one marshmallow now, or wait and get two later. Those who managed to wait not only enjoyed the bigger reward but were also shown, years later, to have better academic results, healthier relationships, and stronger coping skills

                2. Teaching delayed gratification doesn’t require elaborate lessons. Everyday scenarios provide natural opportunities. For example, waiting 10 minutes before enjoying dessert or saving pocket money for a bigger toy instead of spending it right away

                3. Children connect well with stories. Share relatable ones, such as the ant and the grasshopper fable, to highlight the rewards of preparation and patience. Even simple analogies like planting seeds, e.g. “if you water and wait, you get a flower”, help them grasp the concept

                4. Children observe more than they listen. If they see parents saving for a family holiday instead of making impulse purchases, or resisting the urge to check the phone during family dinner, they learn that self-control is not just expected of them but a value you live by

                5. Delayed gratification isn’t about denying joy; it’s about teaching children that discipline, patience, and long-term thinking are keys to success. A child who learns to wait for what truly matters grows into an adult who can set goals, manage finances, and build meaningful relationships

Happy Thursday! Hope all families and parents are looking forward to the end of the work week! We have also released an article discussing how parents can support their children even when their hard work does not pay off in exams.

Some of the key takeaways include:

                      1. Several factors can explain the gap between effort and performance:
                      • Ineffective Study Methods – Hard work without the right strategy is like running on a treadmill; lots of motion, little progress.
                      • Exam Anxiety – Nerves can cloud recall, even if the child studied thoroughly.
                      • Focus on Memorisation, Not Understanding – Students may cram content without grasping key concepts, which exams often test.
                      • Fatigue and Burnout – Long study hours without proper rest lower cognitive performance.
                      1. Acknowledge Their Effort, Not Just the Result
                      • Instead of saying, “Why didn’t you score higher after studying so much?”, shift the focus: “I saw how hard you worked, and that discipline matters.”
                      • Children need to know that effort has intrinsic value, even if the score wasn’t ideal.
                      1. Reframe the Experience as a Learning Opportunity
                      • Help your child see exams as feedback, not a final verdict. Ask questions like: “Which part felt the hardest?” or “What strategies worked well, and what can we try differently?”
                      • This moves them from self-blame to problem-solving.
                      1. Introduce Smarter Study Techniques
                      • Guided study methods like active recall, spaced repetition, and exam paper practice often make a bigger difference than sheer hours spent. This is where tuition can provide targeted coaching.
                      1. Address Emotional Well-being
                      • Sometimes, the issue isn’t academic but emotional. Encourage breaks, exercise, or even journaling to help them manage stress. A calm, balanced mind performs better than an exhausted one.
                      1. Set Small, Achievable Milestones
                      • Rather than focusing only on the big exam, celebrate smaller wins. Improvement in mock papers, solving tougher questions, or showing consistency. Confidence grows with every small victory.
