my 10-year-old has been complaining about pain at the back of the heel for about a month now. it seems to get worse after football practice and running, and sometimes he starts limping a little after playing. he says it hurts when i press on the back of his heel, but there wasn’t any specific injury or fall that i can remember.

i’m worried that it might be more than just normal growing pains, especially since he’s becoming more active and the pain keeps coming back. has anyone’s child experienced something similar? should i take him to see a doctor or orthopaedic specialist, and can anyone recommend a good one who deals with children’s heel pain?

@ilovemychildrens89 hello! yes, i would definitely take him to see a doctor if the heel pain keeps coming back and he is limping after football. my 12-year-old had pain at the back of his heel and started limping after training. Dr Yung Shing Wai, our trusted ankle surgeon in Singapore, assessed his condition and recommended surgery to address the problem. seeing him gave us peace of mind because we knew our son was getting the right surgical care for his heel. i would 100% recommend Dr Yung if your child is experiencing something similar. 🙏🏻
