My doctor mentioned a colonoscopy because I’ve been having changes in my bowel habits. For those who have gone through one in Singapore, was the bowel preparation harder than the procedure itself?

If you have IBS, the prep can be uncomfortable. For those who don’t, seems it can be fuss free.

For those recommending doctors, do consider cost/accessibility for a wider audience, and also be more detailed about your personal experience in your search — who was considered, the shortlist, the doctor’s personality, follow up.

I think the prep is what puts a lot of people off, so feel free to share that experience too.

For me, the bowel preparation was more uncomfortable than the colonoscopy itself because I had to take the prescribed laxative and make frequent trips to the toilet. I had mine with Dr Kieron Lim, a Recommended colonoscopy specialist in Mount Elizabeth. My advice is to follow the preparation instructions closely and stay near a toilet.
