Parents can breathe easier today, since there is no registration.
BigDevil,
Residents can stay in Choa Chu Kang, Bukit Panjang or even Pasir Ris to attend Pei Hwa.
It's not surprising for Nanyang to have high intake, but residents around Pei Hwa are definitely worried because many have high hopes to get in, esp those <1km of the school.
Can you advise if those staying within 1km have chance to get in IF there is another surge in Phase 2A2 and 2B ?
I'm not an expert, so I can only offer my opinion.
In past years, Pei Hwa had conducted balloting only for those living outside of 1km. But there's a double whammy for Pei Hwa hopefuls this year...1 being lower intake of 330 vs previous years' 360, the other being the surprising high TUR of 53% after phase 1. In absolute number terms, that's 176 places taken vs 147 in 2009 and 154 in 2008....almost equivalent to one class of students!
With one class less intake, and one class more registered in phase 1, that's a total of 2 classes less of remaining places still available as compared to previous years. So there is a high possibility for Pei Hwa to ballot for those living within 1km this year.
Again, this is just my opinion. We will know more at the end of phase 2A2 when we find out how many places are left for 2C. -
Haha, will Chief give out ksp for us to predict schools undergoing balloting this year again? Hee…

Great idea, a chance to increase my KSP points.

Sure... but not sure about how to implement this

Phase 1 students in Pei Hwa will take up close to 6 classes…given that there are just 11 classes this year. So it’s 5 classes left for 2A2/2B and 2C.
1 class lesser, and 1 extra class taken at Phase 1, I can fully understand the worry of those living within 1km of the school. Really, who would have thought this would happen when it’s supposedly lowest birth rate for 2004.
2009 had 47% for Phase 1 and 57% for Phase 2A but then again there were 360 places. Looks to me even those staying 1km may have to ballot like what you mentioned. -
