School of Science and Technology

Newest school opening next year. Taking in students through dsa. Parent briefing conducted in April. Pls check website if you're keen.
From the website, http://www.sst.edu.sg/
The School of Science & Technology, Singapore (SST) offers a distinctive 4-year programme that prepares university-bound students for the GCE ‘O’ level examinations
At Year 1 and 2, students will take the following subjects: English Language, Mother Tongue, Mathematics, Science, Integrated Humanities and Art, Design, Media & Technology (ADMT).
At Year 3 and 4, students will take a combination of conventional and applied subjects. He may take conventional subjects such as English, Mother Tongue, Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Humanities (e.g. SS + Geog) together with one or two Applied Subjects such as Design Studies, Fundamentals of Electronics, Media Studies, Biotechnology and Environmental Science & Technology.
==> My question is, these students have to take O Level after 4 years and then move on to JC or Poly. However, there are no A-Level Applied Subjects. So what happens to these students who would like to progress to A level then Uni?
Anyway, the school is in Clementi; considering distance and the fact that it's not IP/no track record, we'll likely give this place a miss. -
Sorry ppl, donno why the poll doesn't seem to work though i set duration as 100 days. :?

I think it's working fine. -
It sounds like preparing children for future engineering path at young age…

Thanks chief. Maybe after I've cast my vote, I won't see that option. so i thot it's not working.mathsparks:

Seems so indeed. It's ok if they've 6 yr program but at the end of 4 yrs, there doesn't seem to be a proper continuation unless they opt for the poly route.

- was this the reason why TCS channel 8 had a series recently promoting engineering field?
- why do they want to stream the students as early as 12 to become engineers when they can do it at O or A level?
- is the school going to compete with NUSH? -
KSP:
12 yo is still too young to see the future unless you put them in. Poor kids...- was this the reason why TCS channel 8 had a series recently promoting engineering field?

KSP:
Looks like they're competing and both are in clementi. Most IP schools are found in central and west so I wonder y they dont locate the SST in the east.

The good side of this is gov is willing to spend more to groom talent here. So students will have one more choice besides RI/RGS/HCI/NYGS/NUSH.
