hi,
Anyone here tried to rent a place near NYPS (and of course staying in it!!)and managed to ballot into NYPS during phase 2C? Is the high cost of rental worthwhile?
Also, anyone who did that and got balloted out
Any advice to share? -
Dear all,
Im not a member of any churches so i wl not be under Phase 2b for methodist affliated pri school. Im planning to get a property near SCGS pri OR MGS pri. which one you think i wl have more chances to get in?
I guess would be SCGS since this is not affliated to any churches etc?
Pls advise. Thank you.

When would your girl be registering? If there's still time, you can consider being a parent volunteer or be an active community leader. That would make you eligible for Phase 2B. If you live within 1km of either school, you are quite likely to get into that school in phase 2b, if the trend continues. However, do note that it is very difficult to become a parent volunteer in both schools.Dear all,

If it's too late ie. your girl was born before 2006, there's balloting in Phase 2C for all who live within 1km for both schools. So it's pretty risky to buy a property within 1km without a sure chance. You can consider renting first, and then buying a property only if your girl gets in.
In my opinion, your odds at SCGS seem better than at MGS. You can see the balloting history here: http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/singapore-primary-1-registration-school-balloting-history and that might help you decide.
Have you considered RGPS? Historically, if you live within 1km of RGPS, no balloting is required even in Phase 2C. And it is as reputable a school as MGS and SCGS; only con is that it is not affiliated to a secondary school.
Hope this helps, and good luck! -

My girl is born in 2007 so there's still some time to go
just exploring options now as we are looking for a place. Yes like what you said, its not easy to do PV in both schools (my 3rd choice will be Faith Methodist wch accept PV i heard?).
RGPS is not affliated to its sec school so im quite \"afriad\" in case my girl doesnt do that well. LOL!
was thinking since SCGS is not affliated to any church, and dont accept PV, means more chance to get in through the phase 2C.

Hi
I am confused. We are moving in to stay at my auntโs place so as to help out on a permanent basis at her home. As such, looking for school near by to register for the kids. In such a case, how can i get the untilities bill etc to reflect the correct address since the home is owned by my aunt and not me? she pays all the billsโฆ -
lilfeets:
your NRIC should reflect your intended-use address, regardless who owns it who pays the bill or rented from friend or relative or strangers.Hi

and better be really staying there as some schools are known to audit it -
For primary school registration, the address on the NRIC would be used with exception for cases of new property pending TOP. Change of address can be done at any neighbourhood police post using a letter stating your full name and the new addess. The following type of letters are acceptable.
1 Telecommunication / Internet bill Within the last 3 months
2 Service and Conservancy bill from town council Within the last 3 months
3 Utilities bill from Singapore Power Within the last 3 months
4 Cable TV bill Within the last 3 months
5 Credit Card / Bank statement Within the last 3 months
6 Insurance bill / statement / letter Within the last 3 months
7 Tenancy agreement for residence Within the last 3 months
8 Bill / statement / letter from HDB Within the last 3 months
9 Bill / statement / letter from IRAS (e.g. Income Tax, Property Tax, etc) Within the last 6 to 12 months
10 Bill / letter from LTA (e.g. Road Tax) Within the last 12 months
11 TV / Radio license bill Within the last 12 months
12 Statement / letter from CPF Within the last 12 months
Do note that the penalty for falsely reporting an address (to update the NRIC address) is a fine not exceeding $5,000 or a jail not exceeding 5 years, or both.
And the child would be moved to a school near to the actual address. -

I thought I read somewhere in this forum that SCGS accepts PVs? Anyway, 2013 is not that far away and if I'm not mistaken, you can start writing to schools now to start applying to be PVs. Good luck!
