Actually many kids travel long distances to school, not necessary due to their parents cheating on the addresses, but rather some registered under phase 2A and their parents' old schools are now far from their current locations..

I know of 'heng heng' family who balloted successfully into RGPS under 2C...and they live in CCK. Don't envy the distance the kids got to travel though.

Hopefully these parents would move somewhere nearer after getting a place there..

hi, can check, if i rented a place from my friends house, which is near to the school i wanted , while i also have other property, will that be of any problem in the registration?

As long as you are staying at the rented place and have updated your NRIC address to that of the rented place prior to the registration.

So if my friend rents a room in my place and updates her NRIC address prior to registration, it is allowed and legal ?

Anyone here tried to rent a place near NYPS (and of course staying in it!!)and managed to ballot into NYPS during phase 2C? Is the high cost of rental worthwhile?

Also, anyone who did that and got balloted out

Im not a member of any churches so i wl not be under Phase 2b for methodist affliated pri school. Im planning to get a property near SCGS pri OR MGS pri. which one you think i wl have more chances to get in?

I guess would be SCGS since this is not affliated to any churches etc?

Pls advise. Thank you.

When would your girl be registering? If there's still time, you can consider being a parent volunteer or be an active community leader. That would make you eligible for Phase 2B. If you live within 1km of either school, you are quite likely to get into that school in phase 2b, if the trend continues. However, do note that it is very difficult to become a parent volunteer in both schools.

If it's too late ie. your girl was born before 2006, there's balloting in Phase 2C for all who live within 1km for both schools. So it's pretty risky to buy a property within 1km without a sure chance. You can consider renting first, and then buying a property only if your girl gets in.

In my opinion, your odds at SCGS seem better than at MGS. You can see the balloting history here: http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/singapore-primary-1-registration-school-balloting-history and that might help you decide.

My girl is born in 2007 so there's still some time to go just exploring options now as we are looking for a place. Yes like what you said, its not easy to do PV in both schools (my 3rd choice will be Faith Methodist wch accept PV i heard?).
RGPS is not affliated to its sec school so im quite \"afriad\" in case my girl doesnt do that well. LOL!

was thinking since SCGS is not affliated to any church, and dont accept PV, means more chance to get in through the phase 2C.

I am confused. We are moving in to stay at my aunt’s place so as to help out on a permanent basis at her home. As such, looking for school near by to register for the kids. In such a case, how can i get the untilities bill etc to reflect the correct address since the home is owned by my aunt and not me? she pays all the bills…
