OMG, that's my primary school too....always wondered what happened to it...its a pity it doesnt exist anymore so couldnt register my little girl under phase 2A!

I missed the uncle selling drinks there...and hated the slope we had to walk to get to the school
Ha ha, was thinking the same about getting some Phase 2A advantage!

I kinda liked the slope where I used to play while waiting for my school bus, but yes, the stairs I had to walk up to the school was a killer!

I have very little memories of the school actually, having studied there for P1 and P2 only, but I do remember there were many casuarina trees and how I liked to pick the prickly leaves and seed/fruit from the ground.

Oh, and we had a music room that I liked to go to where I would bang on the keys of any available piano or organ there, to the chagrin of all present!

Hi, does anyone know if the old Tanglin Girls School (at Kay Siang Road) merged with any school? Was there for two years. If I recall correctly, it merged with Kay Siang Primary but both are now gone, so I'm not really sure how else to trace. The web site provided by MOE was of no help too, listing only a Tanglin Primary which I don't believe is the same.

        Found somewhere in the website:

Tanglin Girls --> Xianglin Primary School. Xianglin Primary merged with Belvedere Primary and became Belvedere Primary which occupied the Xianglin building. This didn't last for too long before they closed the entire school down.

I was from Belvedere School and was hoping to trace to a new school to get into an earlier phase than what it would be (P2C). I wrote to MOE and they could not give me an answer despite many mails. So I am resign to P2C! Yes, the slope!!

If it's the same as Tangling Girls School (TGS), then it's at Kay Siang Road, somewhere between Queenstown Library and Crescent Girls School. I was at TGS in 1979 and 1980 so I guess Kaye at Belvedere would be sometime in the 80s? God, I feel so old! šŸ˜„

And it all came back in a flash - the bookshop at the corner where I would go to covet the erasers and other stationery, squatting at the side of the drain brushing my teeth and being given powdered milk in a plastic bag because I was underweight, drinking the pyramid-shaped Magnolia milk when I got lucky, Chinese-language teacher from hell (in my 7-year-old opinion)....

Actually, I was there in the early 70s so I am really old. Yes you are right Belvedere is on top of the hill where Cresent girls was. I recalled the drain where we brush our teeth and the little garden to rear of the block.

It was opposite Crescent girls, on top of a slope. Maybe Crescent girls could have even taken over the premise?

The slope... from the other side where my primary school was ... very scary... :scared: everytime when we had to go to the dentist in Belvedere.

Seems like all the primary schools around there have closed down. Mine was also confirmed by MOE. šŸ˜›

Once it is closed, don't think you can find anymore info on the MOE website.

Actually, it was a good school... a number of my friends from secondary school were from Belvedere. šŸ˜‰

some of the merged schools do post which are the schools that had merged & formed the new school. Too bad, nothing on Belvedere, perhaps it was closed down too long ago.

Hahaha, it was so long ago that MOE told me they had no record of mergers with other schools! Late 1980s is when they said the school closed. I remember going to the dentist too.... that small building... the smell..
