AMEC is a math club found in a particular primary school. Money can't get you in. Yr child must take a selection test first.

for my son’s school, the p4 and p5 gep students will take the selection test at the end of the year.

Those who are selected will get to join the amec. 😎

My son decided he didn't want extra classes so didnt take the amec selection test. I was so upset because an important decision like this was left to the child. The parents were not informed.

I queried the school and they replied that it's for the kids to decide as they must make sure they've the interest to sustain the next few years.

How can a young child know if he has an interest. He's probably worried about cutting down his play time. :stupid:

                      Hi All,

My son is in P3 and we have received a notice from his school that MOE will be conducting the GEP Screening Test on 28 Aug.

May I know whether anyone has any idea what sort of questions will be tested on? The notice mentioned that the questions asked will be more difficult that what they had learnt at their level.

Samples of the questions will be very helpful. Thank you.

The screening test is just Math and English questions. There really is no need to prepare specifically for the test. If your child has been doing well in school he'll be fine. If you're the kancheong type then have your child revise his schoolwork and do some worksheets. The prep will help him in his SA2 as well. πŸ™‚
