      The Alternative Story:

      Hi TAS

      You’re most welcome.

Thank you so much for introducing so many good books. BTW, do you accept fund transfer through POSB ATM?

      Hi Brenda,

No problem πŸ˜„ We do accept fund transfer, however, you would need
to pay extra for the delivery charges if you want the books
sent to your home. The delivery charges would depend on the
      weight of the books.

      TAS

      Hi TAS

      Noted and thank you.

        Hi TAS

Thank you very much for your help. I have gone to market place to read through the book recommended by you. It is useful. My son is in P5.

        Hi meimeitan,

No problem πŸ˜„ Many primary 5 boys like science and if they are reluctant
readers, reading science books can start them off on the habit of reading.
If they are already reading, then reading books related to science
can get them started on the non-fiction genre.

We have a few of these books to introduce to you. We chose them
because they provide a lot of science experiments that you can do
at home with your children and show them how the science concepts
work in real life or they show how science can be used to solve mysteries.

        1) Forensic Science

This book presents real-life cases of murder - one example would be a
a man who was away on a business trip when police find his wife and
3 children murdered at home. Find out how the police use science
to link the murder to the man. The science concept is linked to digestion.

Hence, your child can read the cases and at the same time learn about
the concepts used to solve the murders πŸ˜„

        2) Science Experiments

There are close to 100 experiments in this book and each experiment
comes with detailed procedures and also the explanation of the
        science concepts behind.

One example of an experiment is 'how to make your own yoghurt',
'dancing raisins' and 'diver in a bottle'. All these experiments
are fun to do and you can show your son how the science
concepts he learns in school can be used to apply to them

        3) Nightrise by Anthony Horowitz

It is part of a series - Power of 5- in Nightrise, 14 year old twins, Jamie
and Scott have never known where they came from, but they always
knew that they had extrarodinary powers. Later one of the twins
is kidnapped and the other twin framed for murder. They then
realize that they have to use their powers to fight back.

One of the twins then travels back in time to solve the mystery of
how they came to have their powers.

Very exciting read and a lot of good vocabulary phrases.

Where to get them: Most libraries and bookstores.
We do sell these books at a discount with creative writing phrases
        for Nightrise.

However, we are also going to sell these books at a further discount
at 'Night at the Reading Museum' event. You can find out more
details of the event at the Happenings thread on this forum. This is the
        link:
        http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12224

If you are not coming for the event, then you can go to the
marketplace thread at this forum to find out the prices. πŸ˜„

            Hi Brenda,

Yes both of them have pictures, for the Forensic Scientist, they have
a mixture of photographs, pictures and comic strips to illustrate
            their points. πŸ˜‰

Wow, DD likes β€œthe Forensic Scientist” as now she is playing a CD-Rom called β€œWomen’s Murder Club”.

There are ten thrilling investigations and need the player to investigate a puzzling world of code, honor and corruption.

Kindly advise the price of the book as I am not able to find in the marketplace thread.

              Thank you.
