i took the test as well for ds. i prefer to have it done because i wwant to be well prepared for any decisions we make.

even though the result is good news, i still read up on down syndrome and other illnesses. i dont want to wait till the baby is born and realise that there is something wrong and be ill prepared for everything.

I took amnio tests for both pregnancies. 1st time was recommended as I was over 35 & I wanted to be sure & prepared. JIC.

Originally didn’t want to do for 2nd pregnancy. However, during the detailed scan, gynae was worried that one of the twins may have problems, so recommended it. Wanted to make sure & be prepared, again. 2nd amnio took shorter time for results, if I wasn’t mistaken.

Thank you for all mummies who have shared yr stories on the aminocentesis

Me too, I belong to the grp who believed in mentally well-prepared for any unexpected birth defects rather than leave to nature........
(though i din go thru the test as i stopped at 1.... 😉 )

          Augmum:
For those mummies giving birth after the age of 35,
i wonder .....did u all go for the amniocentesis test???

my cousin who had her 4 th child at the age of 40, her gynae persuaded her several times to go for the test,
but she refused (she is a devoted christian), saying that
whatever the outcome, she would not abort the child as it is God's gift........

do u all agree on her saying.....???

                  Hey Mummies.

Those with kids that are already more than 3.5years old. Are you still letting them drink powder milk? Can we switch them 100% to fresh milk or full cream milk?
Switched my kids to fresh milk since they were 2yrs old.

Ahh..am thinking about this topic too.... am thinking of switching my gal to fresh milk..

which brand of fresh milk do u all let ur kiddos drink? I read the fresh milk thread, and there are talks about added sugar, oz cows reared in indonesia, oz cows in oz etc... overwhelmed by information...

                      My main 3 concerns -
==> since FM is fortified, does that mean we need to feed our kids supplements (eg, DHA) if we switch totally to fresh milk? My gal's solid intake is still not very nutrious (fussy eater)
==> concerned that she will get wind in her stomach drinking warmed up fresh milk which had been kept in the fridge.
==> fresh milk has a short expiry date. If I started her partially on fresh milk, she will end up drinking from the same bottle which is near to expiry date (hb and I are not milk drinkers)

The supplements they are taking since they started childcare are just multivits and fish oil. There was a period when I put them on multivits with lysine cos they were not eating well. That helped to improve their appetite. Once they are eating well, I reduce their dose, alt days, then slowly, back to normal multivits.

I don't know about wind in their stomach, my kids normally drink their milk chilled, so far no issues. When DD first tried fresh milk, she had a bit of lose stools but that went away after a couple of times.

If you are concerned about the expiry, then start with the small packs which I believe she will be able to finish within a day. Will be more costly for a start but at least no wastage.
