The amnio test was recommended to me when I had my 2nd boy too. I struggled dunno want to do or not. Finally, I chose not to.
When I had my second boy, I was also at the age where the amnio test is recommended. I chose not to take the test because I was scared of the needles !
Cos I scare of the result and the % of miscarriage. F.Y.I, I had twice miscarriage.
I was
very hard that my bb is normal.....so stress

I went for amnio when I had DD but not DS. The triple test showed that DD fell into the high risk category. I remember going blank and then crying buckets after receiving the call from my Gynae’s nurse. She was not tactful at all. I was in a middle of a meeting with a client when I had a few missed calls. When I called back, the first thing she said was your triple test results shows positive for Downs so you need to come in as soon as possible for an amnio. When I met with my gynae his explanation put me more at ease. He said the odds are on my side as the result shows a 1 in 200 chance. He then explained the risks of amnio and his track records (no mishaps due to amnio). He did say more often then not, most amnios come back showing that the babies are normal. The decision whether to go for the procedure or not is ours and he will respect our decision. We opted for the procedure. But after the procedure, I ended up crying as well, to DH’s alarm. But the gynae was very reassuring, telling DH it is very normal as there will be fear and worry so it is good to just let it out. Amnio at that time takes at least 4 weeks to get a result so we were on tenterhooks for 1 whole month. On the 1 hand praying that we won’t get an earlier then expected call but on the other hand needing and answer.
For me, there was no real question about going for the amnio. I believe in knowing and being prepared rather then leaving things to chance. -
i took the test as well for ds. i prefer to have it done because i wwant to be well prepared for any decisions we make.
even though the result is good news, i still read up on down syndrome and other illnesses. i dont want to wait till the baby is born and realise that there is something wrong and be ill prepared for everything. -
I took amnio tests for both pregnancies. 1st time was recommended as I was over 35 & I wanted to be sure & prepared. JIC.
Originally didn’t want to do for 2nd pregnancy. However, during the detailed scan, gynae was worried that one of the twins may have problems, so recommended it. Wanted to make sure & be prepared, again. 2nd amnio took shorter time for results, if I wasn’t mistaken. -
Thank you for all mummies who have shared yr stories on the aminocentesis
Me too, I belong to the grp who believed in mentally well-prepared for any unexpected birth defects rather than leave to nature........
(though i din go thru the test as i stopped at 1....

For those mummies giving birth after the age of 35,
i wonder .....did u all go for the amniocentesis test???
my cousin who had her 4 th child at the age of 40, her gynae persuaded her several times to go for the test,
but she refused (she is a devoted christian), saying that
whatever the outcome, she would not abort the child as it is God's gift........
do u all agree on her saying.....??? -

Switched my kids to fresh milk since they were 2yrs old.Hey Mummies.
Those with kids that are already more than 3.5years old. Are you still letting them drink powder milk? Can we switch them 100% to fresh milk or full cream milk? -
