One question i have in mind before i go and sleep, else cannot sleep.

For Phase 2B, who has higher piority?

      1. PV staying within 1KM
      2. Church Members staying 1-2KM

If there are only 20 seats for phase 2B and there are 19 applicants staying within 1km, 20 Applications stay between 1 - 2 km and 30 applicants stay beyond 2km.

Does it needs any balloting for the 19 applicants staying within 1KM?
All parents under phase 2b will be lumped together regardless how their phase 2b come about. Meaning active GRL, church affiliation and PV all share the same chance. So at the end of it, if balloting arise, distance becomes the deciding factor. So in your scenario, PV within 1km will stand a higher chance. If under phase 2b, the number of applicants within 1km is more than the number of vancancies, balloting will be held only for those in 1km, the rest of the parents will be automatically rejected.

Can anyone advise me on my situation:

I am under phase 2C and living within 1 KM of st Nicholas Girls.
However in order to play safe, I have actually enrolled my girl in Anderson Primary in Phase 2A2 days ago.

Currently SNGS is left with 42 places for phase 2B and 2C ( to be shared equally).

Should I try my luck in SNGS? Meaning I will have to forgo my place at Anderson.

        Ps kindly advise…Thanks a zillion!

          Miffy, just to share:

For last year's registration exercise, I knew a couple who managed to get her girl into Ai Tong at phase 2A2 (I think). Notwithstanding, they actually wanted SNG for their girl but only qualified for phase 2C (within 1 km).

So what they did, to play safe, was that near the end of 2d day of phase 2C, her husband stationed himself at Ai Tong while she stationed herself at SNG. The moment they knew that there were enough vacancies without balloting, her husband immediately withdrew their girl's place at Ai Tong and she subsequently put in her appln at SNG.

You could try that but sounds quite siong.

So now that the \"guaranteed\" Phases 1 and 2A are over, let's have a quick look at the highlights.

            Anderson
            - 3% increase in Phase 2A. Those going for Anderson in Phase 2C should be mentally prepared for balloting for at least 1-2km, or possibly even for less than 1km. The last time there was balloting in Phase 2C for under 1km was in 2006 with a Phase 2A cummulative TUR of 63%. It was 53% last year. This year, it is 58%, which is uncomfortably close to 63%.

            AMK Primary
            - 10% increase in Phase 1 over historical average (2006-2009). Unlikely to cause any balloting, though, since Phase 2B for AMKP has largely been non-existent.

            CHIJ St Nicholas
            - TUR increased by 11% over historical average. Largest contributor is in Phase 2A. 80% of available vacancies has been taken. Only 20% left. It will be difficult for St Nick's to avoid balloting in both Phase 2B and 2C - most likely open only to those staying within 1km.

            Da Qiao
            - TUR increased by 10% over the historical average from 2006-2009. Largest contributor to this increase is in Phase 1. I suppose parents are getting more confident with the school to continue sending their kids there. No balloting expected for Phase 2B or 2C.

Maybe just to do a poll here, any parents registering their girl for St.Nick for phase 2B / 2C this year??

                  Just a bit of trivia.

A friend of mine just finished PV at SNG. He tells me that there were about 25 (+/- 10%) PVs this year to the best of his knowledge. He reckons that the majority live within 1 km. :!: I think that there are 24 places available for 2B. So even excluding Catholics within 1 km, its already oversuscribed.

Personally I know of 2 PVs within 1km and 1 Catholic within 1km who will be applying for SNG.

I reckon that SNG will ballot for 2B within 1 km

When i attended the PV briefing last year, i recalled asking the vp how many pairs of PV will there be, if i did not recall wrongly, i tink there is 15-16 pairs.

I think that balloting is inevitable for phase 2B too.
