Hi Neostar, you may want to check out any good student care centers nearby HIPS. It may helps.

Hi Neostar,Hi Guys
Thanks for your feedbacks.
Ya...lots of my friend also advise me not to give up my chance of registering my boy in HIPS (popular, SAP and affliated to SEC school).
My concern is really on logistic
I heard from my friend that if kid have CCA then school bus is not going to pick him up. Thats why I am checking SKP as it is just downstair, single session, in house BASC. BUT academic? why so not popular in SK over the 10 years? Haiz....confused.
While you are searching for info regarding SKP, why not do this too...
Try to find out more about HIPS (ie school visit, CCA choices, academic stats, school environment etc etc) and see if you can convince yourself that they are worth the logistics overhaul. -

If I were you, I would go for Henry Park, they are famous for their character development. Somemore it's alot more popular than RV. I don't even stand a chance there, so you should grab if distance is not too big an issue.May want give River Valley Pri a shot due to proximity but my son is guaranteed (I think) a place in Henry Park, as I am an old boy there.
Have never been lucky at lucky draws... So not sure if I should risk going for balloting
I'm going for RVPS, it's 3km from me but think at least I stand a chance to get my boy in. If really not lucky, I'm going for New Town Pri, which is purely logical becos student care and DS2's childcare are in the same area, plus alot nearer to my house.neostar:
My gf's girl is P5 at CHIJ at Kellocks. They stay at Holland now, moving to Queenstown soon. She said when her girl has CCA, really no joke. Have got to arrange for school bus (at extra charge) so that they will go pick her up, along with all other students who end their CCA/enrichment class around the same timing. But everyday, her girl will have to stay back for library duty, class duty, enrichment class etc... So say, her CCA ends at 3pm, but school bus pick up is at 4pm. So she die die got to wait till 4pm before she can get back home. If it had been a school much closer to home, the maid could just accompany the girl back in less than half hour.My concern is really on logistic I heard from my friend that if kid have CCA then school bus is not going to pick him up. Thats why I am checking SKP as it is just downstair, single session, in house BASC. BUT academic? why so not popular in SK over the 10 years? Haiz....confused.
DH and I are into the logistics too. RV sounds good but it's 3km so sure need school bus to go to student care. New Town's alot nearer plus can even walk to student care. We letting 'god' decide for us. We opting for our first choice, if really cannot get in, then we are happy with our second choice. -
Just go for Holy Innocents, no regrets lah, established school with good track record knows better how to strike a good balance between study and play. NYPS is so, I spent lot of hassle to get my first kid in, he is in P2, he enjoys school whole lot. We just want him to be an average student in a good school and experience the learning process much more.
In my opinion, serving in grassroots, many neighbourhood schools are still learning ropes to excel, usually over zealous in academics, only darned kiasu parents would love it. -
Dear Winth,
You are also targetting RVPS? I try analyse the location of the school to the bus stop.Seem rather far to walk out & to the bus stop.
As you mentioned when they need to stay back for extra ECA then would need to incur extra transportation charges. -
Hi Everyone!
I am just joined this forum ! My kid will be due for Pri one soon! May I just check if anyone knows whether Ngee Ann Primary School is a good school? -
Hi titank,
Yeh… RVPS seems a good school, plus one of those which I still have a chance to get in though I leave beyond 2km. The other popular schools like ZhangDe and Radin Mas seem like no chance at all.
Haven’t had time to go near the school to take a look. Maybe during registration phase.
The extra cost is true for my gf’s girl’s school which is CHIJ in Kellocks. I don’t know if it’s normal for school buses to charge extra when they make a trip outside school hours.
We haven’t come to a final decision yet whether to get balloted for RVPS, as logistics is a REAL issue. I can’t find any student care that is near to river valley as well, plus P1 for RV is pm session, which is 2 big minuses. The current plan is I got to fly down after office hours, take MRT back, grab car parked at our house, go fetch DS1 and DS2 after their school. Sounds okay now, but dunno if feasible in the long term or not. -
I will be enrolling my gal at st margaret’s 'cos of emphasis on character development in school. any one have the same thots?

Established and good sch. Should go. :celebrate: -
my only worry is on her chinese. I understand most students in girls school tend to speak more English and treat learning Chinese with disdain. Currently, she is pretty positive about learning chinese in her childcare as her teacher is a native speaker and can bring the subject to life.
