Are All Primary Schools The Same?

tankee:
i am NOT implying anything, may be the kids no good ma
so are you implying MOE staff are not doing their job in regulating & choosing the right textbooks? and that some school principal & teachers are just simply ???? :?verykiasu2010:
both series are endorsed by MOE
some schools still using XXX XXXX XXX XXXX but the teachers seldom if ever refer to them, prefer to use other materials .... poor kids don't know how to take notes .... of course interest and marks all plunge la
other schools switched to 'xxxxxxxx' series and wah, so solid ..... kids do well and do not need supplemental materials
sorry i cannot name the school nor the series of books because of obvious reasons

each school has their own justification -
RRMummy:
If it is as you put it, then it is very clear-cut what needs to be done.., no? :?
it is just personal opinion
others will think otherwise -

Sorry that I'm continuing to take this :offtopic:, but if I have all my children in School A, I may not know what text books School Z is using.. and have no idea it is the text book thats the 'culprit'..RRMummy:

Just
the school uses the right one..
But I also think teachers who uses other supplementary materials besides the text books are also great.. not easy task, extra work for them, but extra info and exposure for the children.. :salute: -
RRMummy:
only discovered this when the cousins (kids) were comparing notes

Let me try to be the blunt one.....
Used to think that there is quite a difference in standard among the diff. series of Maths textbooks for primary schools. Some will use series A while others series B.
Being the ks parent, I have actually thought of buying the other supposedly more challenging textbook series B as my girl's school uses the supposedly easier series A.
But then the practical side of me eventually says, instead of buying the textbook, why don't buy the Maths assessment books which now practially all come with the title \"Challenging xxx\", \"Higher-oder xxx\"
Just for a laugh  -

U can tell from the P1 registration statistics. If all schools are the same then we should see a well evenly distributed of applicants for all schools. But we are definitely not seeing that happening. -

:goodpost: bcos they live around that neighbourhood...... :rotflmao:[/quote]why are all the gd schs mostly built in private estates? I really wonder...was driving down Bt Timah from my humble CCK hdb estate to town, all the gd schs are there...NYPS, RGPS. CHIJ OLQP, MGS & HPPS in Holland area etc etc. while CCK residents have to have fight for SVPS or DLS. And if balloted out which is highly likely...left with ???

MGS used to be in town, but gov't nego to swap land and give the school room for expansion, (same for those mission schools now in HDB housing estates due to land swap for expansion) - at least the government is doing what is right in the eyes of the electorate - spread those good mission schools around. Can't complain.
RGPS is a government school - took the site of another sec school used to be there etc. And RI - government school, is in Bishan ..... it actually enhances the value of properties in Bishan, no ? -

That is the difference between landed and non-land neighbourhood.
For landed only one household occupied that piece of land. For non-land like HDB or condo, the same piece of land is shared by 30-40 sometimes 50 stories which occupied by hundreds of household.
