those math olympiad platinum holders are more or less guaranteed a place, if they apply, but there are only about 70 of them each year

Yes they are more or less assured of a place. Assuming most of them do apply to NUSH, that would leave about 80 places for the non platinum holders.

However, do not despair if a child is offered a waitlist instead of a confirmed place. Many of the top candidates will have multiple offers and you will see them spread amongst RI/RGS, HCI/NYGH and NUSH. So the waitlist will have a fairly good chance of getting in too.

Heard that there are those from the Einstein club are also allocated placements. That means there may be even less spots left???[/quote]no worry, many of them also applied for RI / HCI / NYGH / DHS / ACSI / NJC etc....

Camp Questions 2009 - a summary (to the best of my DD's memory)

Physics: Place two mirrors at an angle. Place an object in front of the 2 mirrors. Observe what happens when the angle gets smaller.
For your Reference: http://angelgilding.com/Multiple_Reflections.html. You can try this at home.

Chemistry: Two solutions given, when you mix them up what reaction takes place, whether it is physical or chemical ?

Biology: Male & Female guppies given (different sizes & colour). Observe which factor attracts the other gender

                  English: A compo

Maths: IQ questions e.g how many minimum number of colour balls needed so that the adjacent balls do not have the same colour

                        What is Einstein Club?

NUS High selects some high ability P5 kids for this club. This is based on their performance in the competitions like Singapore Primary Science Olympiad (SPSO) / National Mathematical Olympiad of Singapore (NMOS) organised by them.

These kids get to have a feel of the school by attending workshops during the term breaks.

It is like an outreach program.

Though they are in this club, these kids still have to go thru the selection process i.e attend the test & camp and perform well to get a place in NUS High
