which of the Bukit Timah school do you think is safe to register if you are 2B within 2km?

i think NPYS is definitely out!
For Pei Hwa, there are 44 vacancies. Assuming there are 20 PVs, there will be 24 left, but don't forget Christians/grassroots.
For 2006/2008, there was balloting for those living out of 2km.

In any case, all the best for parents registering under Phase 2B.

        Thanks for the update, tankee!

I have been reading this thread daily to see if there's a need for me to waste $1K for nyps alumni. Looking at the statistics, I think 2A2 is very safe  But if it's CHS, better apply man!
ya, not necessary to join alumni just to get into 2A1. 2A2 is safe enough.

        😄

Be prepared for more flooding with the Circle Line being constructed. Bukit Timah has been known to be a flood zone for long time.

but ever since the canal work was completed many years ago, it has been flood free for so many years until starting from 2009
Remaining 36 spaces each for 2b and 2c at nyps! I think high chance of balloting for those out of 1km at 2b

Meaning if they don't get at 2b, they will be in 2c balloting right?

If they are not within 1km at phase 2b, no point try at phase 2c, no chance to ballot at all.
NYPS says they have 44 PVs this year!

This means that 8 PVs will be balloted out this time, despite clocking 80 hrs each. We live in a cruel world.

Yup, 80 hours isn't easy to clock up. Imagine if the poor parent had to do traffic warden every morn for 45 min and didn't manage to get the child into Nanyang.

it would be more than 8 since there will be some grassroots registering as well.

Can’t imagine the heartbreak. Phase 2B actually includes quite a number of groups - religious, PVs and grassroots. PVs served the school while grassroot served the community…not to forget a handful who ask their MP to write a letter to help them get into school of choice.

Thought that MP letter holds no sway in P1 registration? :?

Yes, I pity the PVs most as they put in so much effort and still can't get a place. At least the grassroots volunteers have a choice of schools to apply to within the GRC, and can still switch to other schools if the numbers don't look good.

For those PVs who get balloted out, do try again in P2C. And if you're still unlucky, put yourself on the waiting list. If there are students who withdraw, you would have a good chance of getting in since the school would recognise your efforts. I know of someone whose child is already in the school (under P2A2) but is likely to withdraw if a place can be found in another school under P2C. So there's hope yet for all! Best of luck! 😄
