          Dear All,

My son 4years old is having HFMD and couldn’t sleep last night. He keep on crying due to discomfort and itchiness of the blisters and mouth ulcers.

Today was his 3rd day. He got fever on monday morning, then late afternoon we noticed an ulcer on his mouth and one or two blisters on his feet.

We brought him to see chinese sin seh yesterday . He had more mouth ulcers late afternoon yesterday and couldn’t sleep well.

I quickly bought Manuka honey with UMF 15. Heard that it is good. Advised to take 3 teaspoon a day.

On top of that i let him take organic vitamin C, home-cook green beans, 'Luo Han Guo", paracetamol for fever and the herbs.

May i know what is good to take to help him recover faster and reduce discomfort.

          Thanks

Hi Charmaine_chong, sad to hear that.

Both my DD & DS also had HFMD before. With the weekly figure so high, I believe most of the kids in S'pore will have it at least once. 😞

Maybe u can read those previous posting. They have very good advice.

Do take care of urself too.

              Hi Blurbee,

I know that there isn't a medication to cure HMFD. It will take 5-7 days to recover.

I just got advise from Dr James Chen's staff to advise on HMFD.

              http://wecaretw.com/aboutus.aspx

              Introduction about Dr James Chen

I was advised to let my child 4years old
              1. to rinse his mouth with Camelia oil
              http://wecaretw.com/wecarecamellia375.aspx

              2. take 1 packet of organic vitamin C mix with water before meal and before bed time. Alternatively can try to take a packet every 2 hours.

                Hello Charmaine_chong,

Hope your DS is feeling better now. If not, you may wish to make cold milk shake for him. This advice was given to me by a Paeditrician at Kinder clinic when my DD had HFMD.

My DD went without food and drink for 3 whole days (whole mouth filled with painful ulcers), we panicked and was worried she might become dehydrated.

When we brought her to the Paedi, she advised us to make cold milk shake for her. Surprisingly, it worked. Guess the coldness numbs the pain. She started eating them and finished it. We tried it ourselves, boy was it delicious.

We were so relieved that she at least took something otherwise going to become \"sian\" liao (no food, no drink). 🙏

                  Hi cantbearit2,

                  Thank you very much.

May i know what brand of milk shake you gave to your kid? How to do it?

My son seems has fully recovered, just having some minor scars that is all.

My baby girl has blisters on many of her body parts and two ulcers. She refuse to eat and drink anything. She is 2yo.We gave her vitamin c, manuka, green bean soap - all she refused to drink.

She has ben crying many days and couldn’t sleep well.

                  Thanks

I think it is up to your creativity.

But I only bought vanilla ice cream and mix with Meiji strawberry milk. The amount you put in for both will depend on the consistency you like. I put in very little of the milk compared to DH.

The smell of Meiji's strawberry milk will entice even the adults.

                      Thanks cAntberit2,

In fact, i bought ice-cream for my younger one. She finished two sticks of vanilla ice-cream and asked for more.

I bought her cup ice-cream, she doesn’t like it.

She loves DHA and always ask for more. Since having HFMD, she doesn’t want to take it due to mouth ulcer.

When she sees her brother eating donut or chocolate bread, she wanted to eat but couldn’t bite.

                      Poor kid!

                        Hi Charmaine_chong,

Poor kid. Same like my DD2. She's a food lover but yet couldn't mouth a single drop of water. 😢

That's why we were so appreciative to our Paedi's suggestion of the milk shake. It's the only thing she could swallow.

Hope you kiddo get better soon.
