bigfoot:
But as Markfch said, with citizens now having two ballots they can't do that otherwise it would work against Sinagporeans! They could only do it if all the applicants are citizens.alvinaT:
If there is a ballot, and the school has 52 applicants for 50 vacancies, do they choose 2 (to drop) or choose 50? :?
There were cases of reverse balloting. Meaning they'll draw out those names who will not b selected. Usually it happened only when there is only a few applicants more than the available vacancies. -
They give foreigners 2 slips in this case?

Nope. Sorry only given two balloting slips to Singapore Citizens.
By Moe :
1.Should the number of applications exceed the number of vacancies in any phase, places will be balloted according to the following order of priority. From 2010, Singapore Citizens will be given two ballot slips for each child, while Singapore Permanent Residents will continue to get one ballot slip per child.
2. Can I choose to have my children who are registering at the same school be balloted together?
Yes. Each set of siblings is considered as a single registration and accorded ballot slip(s) by citizenship. If the shared ballot slip(s) is/are drawn, places will be given to every child of the set of siblings.
For siblings of different citizenship i.e. Singapore Citizen (SC) and Singapore Permanent Resident (SPR), the set of siblings is considered as a single registration and accorded ONE ballot slip as one of the siblings is SPR (i.e. according to treatment for SPR registrants).
Parents may opt for separate ballot slips for their children. In this case, only the child whose ballot slip(s) is/are drawn will be allocated a place. Parents should inform the school at the time of registration. -
markfch:
Hey,
That's not very encouraging. Any chance of tweaking system to 99% in my favour? You know what, actually MOE is very kind. If locals go casinos, we have to fork out $100 each. But sch balloting is free of chargesc88:
Hi markfch,
I think u have 50-50% chances of no balloting for Phase 2B.
Pei Hwa in 2009 2B phases is 78 by 78.
Further this year is only 330 places compared to 2009 360 places. Furthermore, I can see there's an increase rates too for this year.
T - 60 mins. All systems go. 3, 2, 1, launch.
Todays Phase 2B results are out. 44 58

Mebbe that instance was before the 2-slips implementation for citizens.alvinaT:

Then working reversely might save time and anxiety. But with citizens
now getting two slips, it is unlikely that reverse balloting will happen 2
ensure all citizens get fair chance.

2B results?
But 2B registration not over?

Yes, if they ever do a reverse balloting, I think this will work as foreigners/PRs will have twice the chance to be ballot out. That'll will be equivalent to giving 2 slips to citizen in a normal ballot. -
buds:
Many schools are already oversubscribed on day 1. Maybe the figures will change by the end of tmr as some people might withdraw if they see their chances are so slim, provided they have a back-up school at 2B. If I were a PV for NYPS living >1km (maybe even <1km this year), I'd be really worried
Huh? :?sc88:

Oversubscribed would mean that few or no seats might be left in some cases? :scared:
Not enuf to even 50-50? -
I once rang a girls' school and asked abt my chances if i were at 2C.
This is what he said... \"Last year, at Phase 2C there were only 2 seats.
So, whaddya think your chances are?\"
Is this really possible?
