In Tiong Bahru Food Center, there is this Thai food store that provides authentic Thai dishes. The price is really affordable and there is this photo showing the chef shaking hand with our PM LEE.

Hi there,Was told this is good

Have not tried yet though.
Just went to the one in Dempsey. Apparently its always very very crowded.
Okie, ordered the set lunch that came up to $64 after service charge and GST for two. The set costs $55.
Menu consisted of morning glory (a green noodle like vegetable), deep fried sea bass in fish sauce with seafood sauce and prawn tom yam soup and steamed rice. There are two variations of the set lunch to choose from, FYI.
Verdict: I liked the morning glory stir fried in garlic - very crunchy texture, loved the tom yum - it was super spicy that I started to hiccup and the best was the fish. Though it was deep fried, it was easy to 'peel' the meat off the bones and soft to eat
I do find it very pricey though and may not go back there in a hurry.
I want to try Jai Thai next. It was recommended to me some years back but never got down to patronizing the place. -

Finally went to the one at ECP. The food is pretty good. But like what you say a bit pricey. We tried their beer as well, pretty smooth and light. Between 6 adults and 4 kids, our bill came up to over $300.

We had
Crab Meat Fried Rice
Morning Glory, 1 spicy, 1 non spicy
Pork Knuckle
Kampong Salt fried chicken
BBQ sotong
Blanched cockles
Seafood Tom Yum
Steamed Seabass
Glutinous Rice with Mango
Red Ruby
Beer and drinks.
Only complains I have was too little mango and the coconut milk for the red ruby tasted weird.
