I agree with Smurf on this. I suppose you don't need PV to be fair to non-catholic. Grassroot is another option.
I believe when the parents signed up as pv, they know it is not guarantee. I am sure there are children going Chs via pv. If do away with pv, it will not be fair to those non-catholic students.smurf:
I totally agred with that! why ask for PV when the seats are not even enough? are they hoping for less catholic or less community leaders? I dun understand lor.
anyway, I think we are staying put at SJIJ, dun want to go thru balloting.
My kids' school don't accept PV and it is a religious school. My ex-teacher told us that as demand has always been greater than supply, they don't want to accept PV as they don't want to disappoint parents who signed up as a PV and create unnecessary demand when there is only so much places they can offer.
Maybe CHS should rethink their PV policy. -
Hello Smurf! Got the letter and orientation on 3 Nov. We will be out of town then. Ya, it’ll be fun if our boys are in same class. Do u live in Bishan? Schoolbus to n fro?
-
I agree CHS should limit the no of PV or totally do away with it. I’m sure they can find parents volunteer in their parents support group. I’m Catholic living within 1 km of CHS. I can’t even consider CHS looking at the odds. I have to go elsewhere.

I'm still considering schoolbus, my boy dun want to take schoolbus, cos he said he will be turning round and round just to reach a destination.
I think I should be bringing him to sch to and fro.

Zero points lah - for being Kaypoh. Sec school can gain extra points one meh? Ok - that's subject to the principal, but I don't think so lenient. I know active PVs whose boys didn't make cut-off to chs sec and sent them to international schools. Even boys who DSA'd thru CCA but didn't make a 220+ also didn't get to make good their DSA offer in the end. ;(
Is it 235 or 230? I thought its 230 for this year P6 to next year Sec 1.pokemon:
...
Plus Point- the psle cut off point for their sec is 235 this year (if im not wrong), just in case your child only get 1pt below the cut-off and if you are a pv who comply to school 'recall', mayb sch will be more willing to help.
Or you mean last year P6 to this year Sec 1? I thought its 225?
Wah, how you know about the 1 point?
What about if the person PV 6 years just because of being Kaypo and no obligation, how many points?
Yah, isn't the cut-off for affiliated CHS pri boys set at 230 for this coming year? -
Balloting is done openly by the VP in front of everyone.
They mark ping pong balls with your number and draw in front of you.
Very exciting and also scary & emotional too ! -
@phankao
ya, I thought so too. -
-
But PV does give you an advantage, you get another chance to ballot if you don’t get a place the first time. Not everyone has the time to do PV, so, I guess its fair afterall…
