All About Home Addresses

I will be balloting for P2B for ATS. Can’t believe this year is so over-subscribed. So many PVs and Grassroots leaders and huaykuan stay within 1 km meh? Some more around ATS, there have not been many new developments, unlike CHS where you have the Clover By the Park and the Natura Loft. I can say that if I’m balloted out, I’m definitely writing to the school and MOE to audit the addresses. :x

That is definitely within your rights to do so
That is why in this forum we advocate parents to be truthful in the matters of their children's education
Everyone should be aware of the lawyer who got caught and was shamed (jailed ??) and the girl got transferred out of the school as a result of false address being used for the P1 registration -
Hate to say this, but this is probably the only case so far…
Does everyone play fair? I seriously doubt so. It may be possible that year after year, the number of <1km can be so high. Frankly, I feel it is highly improbable, but that’s just my feeling. Hence I’m feeling very anxious about this week’s balloting, and touch wood, if I am balloted out, I really do not know what to do.
Was thinking how people can "cheat".
Rent HDB room, say $500 per month. Sign up credit card, charge a few items, change billing address to rental room, bring rental Tenancy Agreement to police centre, change address. Done.
What rules were broken? Goodwill and honour? The school wouldn’t care, the address on the IC checks out, so nothing wrong there. Therefore, the school has no cause to ask the police to verify the address, unless they have valid reason to belive that there’s a possibility of fraud or some other irregularities, which was what happened in the case of the lawyer. It so happened that the school "stumbled" on 2 identical addresses in the school’s system, and thereby triggered further investigations which ultimately led to the discovery of dishonesty on the lawyer’s part. I don’t recall this case was triggered by some parent complaining to the school about the balloting process.
Is there any way to address this problem? -
School and police do not have the resource to do 100% audit of applicants home address. And there is also the other factor of when to audit, during registration exercise? when school starts? mid-way through pr1?
but schools are known to take action to check should they come to know about any specific parents that may have cheated. -
this has been mentioned many times in many places
if you have concerns about the truthfulness of certain addresses, raise it up to the school and they will check
some checks take place after the school year has commenced
eg teachers will ask kids where they stay in a casual classroom get-to-know-you situation, innocently; and innocently the replies will come and if things do not match up, alarm bell rings and checks will go underway, and some foster care were found to be bogus
however, truth be told, there are lots of property transactions that take place within one km of those popular schools - these are sale and purchases, not mere rental. can check with inlis / URA.
now, off topic, if you own a property near those popular school, its value always hold, quite recession proof, unless it is another SARS -

From what I understand, you will have a form to fill in your 1st/2nd/3rd choice of schools (of course those still with vacancies after 2C Supp) before the start of phase 3. MOE will then try to post your child according to your choices.
Thanks!

Does anyone knows if you are a grassroot leader, registering the school via 2B, but you rent a place which is near the school, is it acceptable? Or you can only register 2B under your own GRC, and the same address as you are as a grassroot leader?

i believe grassroot leaders are restricted to the schools within their area of service. -
