      Hi concern2,

You sound like one of those parents who think that you belong to a specific phase because of the distance of your home to the school?

Please read the MOE info carefully:
      http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/phases/

        JenJen:
Hi, I would like to seek the open opinion of parents...

        I have a 6YO girl and a 2YO boy...
I have registered for my girl in RGPS under Phase 2A...
But am thinking of registering at NCPS as I am staying in SK...
And then my boy no need to worry leow...

But a lot of people are now \"scolding\" me for giving up the chance for my girl... say dun becos of convenience give up such a good school...

I mean NCPS not good school meh? Hiaz...
OMG :!: Please DO NOT pull your girl out from RGPS where she has a guaranteed place. It is very hard to get into NCPS unless you qualify for the phases before 2C. For 2B, make sure you are within 1km. I tried to apply for PV for my boy but was rejected. Tried balloting under 2C but was unsuccessful too. Do consider carefully if you want to try your luck at NCPS but do consider your options if you dun get a place there ie. are you prepared to accept the alternative choices...

Yes, I am aware of these additional 'avenues' but SHHK is out for me as I am not Hokkien. The GRL route may still be possible if I start now for my youngest girl but may be difficult for me to commit that kind of time as I am already very tied up with my job... *sigh* Will think about it though... Thanks!
Hi aaadaddy, if your wife is a hokkien, she can register as SHHK member.
As for volunteer works for clan, you can definitely work it out. Not forgetting, you will meet many new friends and probably bump into long lost friends.

Ummm....you mean phase 2B includes those staying within 1km? It isn't stated in the MOE brochure, I thought that would be in 2C, like those staying within 2km. Can someone please enlighten me? :?

Yes. 2B include those within 1 km too.

Hi aaadaddy, if your wife is a hokkien, she can still register as SHHK member.

She is Teochew like me too...so still cannot. Thanks anyway.

Yes, confirm not stated! But why isn't it mentioned? Looks like I have missed my registration...So would the 1km given priority over the 2km in Phase 2C?

Sorry, it was mentioned in the footnotes on this page, but i didn't see it in the brochure

home distance to school only matters when there is balloting. Read the portion under balloting.

ICIC. So since I am not a parent volunteer or fall under 2B, I’d still be within Phase 2C, and only if there is balloting required, priority will be given to those living 1km, then 2km?

If there is no balloting, distance doesn't matter.
But when balloting is needed, all registrations for that particular phase will be grouped into 3 priorities :

                      1st Priority : Within 1km group
                      2nd Priority : Between 1-2km group
Lastly : More than 2km group

Let's say there are 65 vacancies this year, if there are 65 or lesser registrations for within 1km group, all will get a place.

Remaining vacancies will go to 1-2km group for ballot, or given to each if registrations do not exceed the remaining vacancies. Unless no vacancy left.

More than 2km group will go through same process as 1-2km.

That being said that u are not hokkein. pls be aware abt SK's constituency zoning. Half of SK belong to Pasir Ris-punggol GRC, half under AMK. NCPS happen to be under AMK, so make sure in are in the correct zone b4 u volunteer.
