Travel: Australia - Perth
-
I am going to Perth next month.
Any suggestion of the places which is a ‘must go’?
I will b travelling south -
Margaret River is a must. Try to do a farm stay there. Visited the place last year and stayed at Sunflowers Farm. They have an animal "zoo" at the farm where the kids can go feed the animals everyday. And on some days, they organise a tractor ride round the estate. Really fun!
If you have some time to spare, King’s park in Perth is also fun for the kids and don’t miss Fremantle for the weekend farmers mkt. You can get really cheap organic veggies before the mkt closes (that is if your accomodation allows you to cook).
Enjoy! -

Perth is really a nice place. It's voted the happiest state in australia recently.
In Perth City itself, go for a picnic at King's Park. Nice view, good air and lotsa space for the kids to run about.
Musuem also good way to spend a few hours.
Sorry OOT but if you are going North, u can consider Monkey Mia. The resort there is great and u get to see the dolphins in the morning. the dolphins go there 98% of the time and we are allowed to waddle in the water near them...but cannot touch them lah. -
I went to Perth donkey years ago b4 getting married. We stayed at Joondalup (owned by NTUC). Fantastic apartment which has 3 bedrooms, kitchen complete with fridge, microwave oven, dryer/machine.
Now I’m thinking of bringing kids there. No need to stay hotel and eat out every meal.
Never brought kids overseas before…need some advice from mummies here. Very suaku. -
hi janet, we are thinking of a Perth trip end of the year too. But hor, I kept procastinating, the planning is the very fun part but tiring too. Go to Tripadvisor :lovesite:

Am also planning a short trip there. wondering if there are any places to pick strawberries or other types of fruit within 1-2 hours drive of Perth?
Also for those planning to travel with kids who need child seats, a friend was advising me to bring your own cos it can be as expensive to rent a child seat as it is to buy a new one. -
If you are bringing in milk powder or foodstuff for your kids, please remember to declare them at the customs. Make sure that all milk powder /dairy products are in sealed cans and none of the foodstuff contain seeds. They are very very particular about it and will not hesitate to throw away any suspicious looking food items or opened tins of milk powder.

I think renting an apartment is good… cos if you buy food to cook, it’s lots cheaper than eating out. And if you buy their local fruits n food, it’s really fresh n cheap!!
We took the campervan in Feb, and bought food from Coles… we had BBQ n fresh salads etc… n bought fruits from fremantle markets… we ate out only 1 meal on most days… I miss Perth!!!
