you need to check the contract between you and the maid.


for my agent, the contract says the termination notice is 2 weeks. your contract is 30 days? that's very long.

i will send maid back to agent too if same thing happened. but in my case, i will pay levy and F&L for two weeks only. after this two weeks, i will cancel her WP and agent will refund me the remaining of maid loan. whether she got transferred or sent home i dont care, i dont need to buy airticket for her because it's her who wants to leave me. i am also entitled two replacements, free of charge of agent fee, according to contract. whether the maid can raise enough fund or not after two weeks is her personal reason, not my business. agent will handle that. in fact, if she can raise fund to repay the loan, agent will send her back. if she can not, agent will force her to transfer.

but why 30 days? as soon as she repay you the loan, buy an airticket, cancel her WP and her record will disappeared in one week

The maid said she wanted to go back to agent while waiting for the family to raise the money. How would I know how long she takes to raise the money??

And if I don't allow her to go back, what if she comes up with fabricated stories, or do something terrible to my family? I got 1 young child & my elderly mum at home, better be safe than sorry.

The maid agency contract says 30 days max for her to transferred out or repatriated.

liohao - really envious of you, at least after 2 transfers you finally get 1 good maid....now I am really really weary of the maid thing. In my 6 previous years don't have this issue at all !!!!!!! Is luck turning against me now??????

There are agents that give unlimited replacements within a year as well. But do we really want this. This clause is to give employers the comfort that they can continue to get helpers from the same agency. Everytime we transfer a helper out and take in another fresh helper, we need to top-up their loan. Dats y the give such replacement which in reality generates business for the agent.


What we want is a trouble-free helper…but its not guarantee either

Hi, You don't cancel the levy, you claim the levy back from MOM. You need to show her passport with the departure and arrival date. It is wiser to check MOM website for more details.

Yesterday sent back my maid to the agent. On Sat she called home & said her family will raise money for her to pay off loans. On Sun morning immediately wants to go back to agent. I sent her off despite not having anyone at home.

Now agent believes that she can really raise money to pay off loans. On the contract it's stated that I have to give them max 30 days to get rid of her name off my MOM record. So if the agent really thinks she can pay off the loan they won't arrange for her to be interviewed. So she can now shake leg at my expense: I have to pay levy, food & lodging fee for max 30 day's quantum !!!!!!!

Is there anything I can do about this at all??????

If ever I decide to get another maid, anything I can learn from this epidose so that I won't be taken for a free ride again???????

Am having similar problem. My maid who has been with me for the past 5 months told me yesterday that she wants to go back. I have been tolerating her nonsense during the time she has been here and i finally have had it with her. She cannot cook; i still make breakfast and drinks for my family; she forgets everything and talks back. Can you imagine a maid who cannot even make milo? when i ask her to make drinks she will either forget to boli the milk or will not put sugar etc. My MIL cooks and she eats. She can ploish of 1 kilo of biscuits in a week and one jumbo loaf of bread by herself in 3 days. I hav decided to send her back and go maidless.

kanyaramesh, I think yr maid is either not serious in working or buying time to clear some of her loan. Btw, is she filipina? If she is, they normally love bread, You must hve seen some good in her to put up wth her nonsense for 5 solid months.

I just interviewed another mynmar today, if approved shes gonna b my 6th maid in 8 months. I m so sick of changing maids, I would very much like to keep her as shes very hardworking and is all out to work. Well just too bad , My mum cant bear to hv her in our home any longer.

After almost 2 months without a maid, my new Myanmarese maid finally arrived yesterday after some delay from the agent.


Btw, what's the basic insurance for maid? Can anyone enlighten me? The agent charged me $235.40, is it the universal basic insurance for all maids? I have to pay almost $3000 including maid loan, insurance and agent fee to the agent. :roll:

I put up with her for 5 months because she is very young and I felt she should be given a chance to prove herself. She is an Indon and although her passport says she is 25 she cannot be older than 18. So I thought because she did not have a good upbringing I could try to reform the way she spoke and interacted with us. In the first week she was with us she was washing clothes when my 6 year old son ran and fell into the drain. She did not see me coming behind her and just looked up to see my son and continued to wash clothes. I had to run and pull my son out of the drain. I found that very wierd as she did not seem to react normally. Even then I gave her a chance.

All that effort put into her has gone to waste. She still cant cook; she burns chicken when asked to fry it. Would iron shirts and not iron the back. I kept thinking if it was my daughter working how sad she would feel being scolded so I controlled myself and tried to counsel her instead. But these maids nowadays are just to smart and very cunning.

I am going maidless now; will be tiring but i will have less stress.

Looks like I am not the only employer getting maid's nonsense nowadays. Or I have been lucky in the previous 6 years with all 3 maids completing their contract. Or really times have changed....

Just now went to the agent to take back all my PD cheques. Don't think will get a replacement maid from them as their service really sucks !!!! They just want to get their loan back & expects me to pay for ALL expenses. Also saw my maid sitting there enjoying aircon & give me that kind of \"I win\" attitude......gets me mad :x :x :x

My P1 girl also says she does not want maid anymore. Just that I am worried she will be tired if I put her at student care. She will need to be at student care from 8am. Takes school bus around 11.20am, and reaches home around 7.15pm. Her school is really far from where we stay...

Went back I question her, she denied and even said she has 1 day off every month she wouldn't do this kinda thing. And even said if I see it with my own eye, she has nothing to say.

Day time she will be home alone, dh and myself go to work, ds1 and ds2 at childcare. She will cook dinner, fetch ds1 and ds2 at hse bus-stop and prepare them for dinner. I reach home around 7plus, sometimes 8. My mum will come to my place once a while in the afternoon and today she caught her at my blk void deck loitering around, probly meeting up the 2 dark skin man my mum saw sitting at the stone chairs. But she denied everything when mum ask and said she just happen to walk around there. This is very suspicious....

What is your advice? My first time encountering this problem although I had maid last time but everytime put at my mother's place.

keep quiet. then buy you neighbor a nice gift and ask your neighbor to take a picture using handphone when next time your neighbor see her with the dark skin guy. meanwhile, looking for replacement...

one thing i dont understand is why ph maid likes to mess up with those dark skin guys, ie, bangla man...they are different species and religious and i dont see anything common between them. why?
