Yup. If either parent/SIBLING of the child has studied in that school, they can register under 2A2. Alumni (2A1) is for those who have studied in the school and joined the school's alumni. If the school doesn't have alumni like Pei Hwa, then register under 2A2.

      strange, right ?

if no alumni organisation, then should be P2A1, not because the parent did not want to join, but the lack of it

but then, alumni parents should just go and form an alumni org for the school, then can claim rights under P2A1, instead of being relegated to P2A2

      work for what you want

But 2A1, 2A2, just a matter of numbers. These 2 phases still belong to sure win entry. If the old girls/boys are active in the school, joining the alumni makes sense. If not, it's just a numbers game (sch has how many alumni etc).

plan ahead ma......looking at some very hot schools this year ...... single digit vacancies for Phase 2B ...... the kids would appreciate the parents could have been more active with alumni (or start one) than with the golf courses (eg)

even some phase 2B are really low in numbers ..... and if for any year there is an unexpected increase in phase 2A2, then those hoping for pahse 2B will kena lah

ha ha...true, but then before 2B, the enrolment is not split. it's after 2A2 that the vacancies get divided by half and the madness starts. that's why I a bit puzzled that pp will join alumni just to register a few days earlier.

oh well, to each their own. šŸ˜‰

diminishing utility, but as you say, to each his own. P1 registration madness knows no boundaries......

                Hi luvmum,

How about those working in MOE offices, not in the schools? Do they get priority in phase 2A2?
                luvmum:

Yes even the admin staff working in the same school gets to register at earlier phases. That is what the admin staff told me when I did PV at the school...so long as you are under MOE payroll regardless of positions. :?:

From what a parent mentioned earlier, there is NO priority for those working in the MOE HQ itself.

It's strange that some schools which have LONG history dating back to 18XX like Pei Hwa which doesn't have alumni. So parents cheong to register on 1st day of 2A2.

I'm not for joining alumni bcos P1 registration...understand alumni group has many meetings which I have no time to attend.

it happens in a few cities that parents (and their rep) queue a few days just to be ahead of the pack...talk about being kiasu

I was one who contemplated paying $500 to join the alumni so that I can register my child in p2A1 (that was before joining KSP and became more informed).

Luckily for me, I missed the deadline for joining the alumni. šŸ˜‰ šŸ˜“

I also missed the deadline to join alumni $80.
Spoke to a committee member about the chances of getting in under 2A2 and she told me HIGH chance. In that case, I didn't join alumni and saved the $80.

Then again... schs without strong alumni or long history... will have a higher chance to merged/close down... in years ahead?

Then our next generation will be relegated to 2B/2C mad rush again...

My mum's past efforts were wasted (Q early morn... see MP)... cos' my Pri sch has closed down since.

Hope my kid has better luck in future and the sch dun close down šŸ™‚
