      Nebbermind:
      Need some advice here.

      Scenario (assume):

Child applied for DSA for ACSI and NUSH and eventually offered by ACSI.

Took up the ACSI offer although not too keen on the IB prog.

After PSLE, T-score is high enough to qualify comfortably (based on past records) for NJC IP.

What are the options? or is it none after accepting DSA from any schools?
You won't be able to take part in the S1 posting after the PSLE result has been released as you have accepted the ACSI offer. That is the spirit of the DSA exercise - your choice of school based on criteria from the school and your ability. You have been given the offer in priority to others who need to wait for PSLE result

Of course you can do what people call the dishonourable thing

You can always appeal after the shcool posting in Dec. Most schools have appeal form - if you are above the COP of the school; the chance is that the school will accept you.

It's been pretty quiet about NJC. Any news / progress on NJC? Could I seek some sharings here pls? Or maybe it is not \"hot\" at all?

Ideally the entire DSA process should be made as tranparent as possible for parents and students to make decision. Schools should just declare at the very beginning of the process that how many vacancies are available, how many are reserved for GEPers, how many reserved for CCA applicants, etc. They should just learn from the Primary 1 intake exercise in which information is updated daily online for parents to decide which school to apply for under which phase.

Another example is that schools can also declare that the top 10% of GAT will be interviewed, and 5% will be selected, etc. The point is when we take part in an activity or competition, rules must be made clear to the participants. Then the participants can make decision whether to take part in it. As it is now, I don’t think this is the case for DSA application.

I have this feeling that famous schools with IP are not hard up for good students. Their approach is if I don’t offer you under DSA, you will still come to me after PSLE. The students are at the receiving end going through the stress along the journey of DSA applications. If there is sufficient data such as there are only limited vacancies available, chances are a lot of people will not even bother to apply under DSA.

We were in this scenario last year. Accepted DSA offer from ACSI (though my boy not really keen as need to do 2 CCAs) but his PSLE score was a few points above NJC cut-off. We waited till the central posting was completed before withdrawing from ACSI and appealing at NJC. We were informed of the appeal result in late Dec (almost the last few days).

Invariably at each year's open houses, such questions are asked and answered wrt vacancies

By the way, the admission is based on merit and exceptional ability demonstrated, not to fill a quota

Each independent schools has their own selection criteria, a desire to maintain a certain type of culture and environment, hence each school is unique and all their vacancies will be filled by the time of S1 posting.

The DSA process can be viewed as a form of training for the kids - go strive for what you want. Certain amount of stress is good. Teach the kids at this age (12 y/o) that they need to face the world and face the competition, and know how to accept setbacks, and to rise again through PSLE is not late if DSA is not successful

the data is widely available wrt vacancies and applicants
