All About Full-Time Maids

I just interviewed another mynmar today, if approved shes gonna b my 6th maid in 8 months. I m so sick of changing maids, I would very much like to keep her as shes very hardworking and is all out to work. Well just too bad , My mum cant bear to hv her in our home any longer.

I put up with her for 5 months because she is very young and I felt she should be given a chance to prove herself. She is an Indon and although her passport says she is 25 she cannot be older than 18. So I thought because she did not have a good upbringing I could try to reform the way she spoke and interacted with us. In the first week she was with us she was washing clothes when my 6 year old son ran and fell into the drain. She did not see me coming behind her and just looked up to see my son and continued to wash clothes. I had to run and pull my son out of the drain. I found that very wierd as she did not seem to react normally. Even then I gave her a chance.

All that effort put into her has gone to waste. She still cant cook; she burns chicken when asked to fry it. Would iron shirts and not iron the back. I kept thinking if it was my daughter working how sad she would feel being scolded so I controlled myself and tried to counsel her instead. But these maids nowadays are just to smart and very cunning.

I am going maidless now; will be tiring but i will have less stress.

Looks like I am not the only employer getting maid's nonsense nowadays. Or I have been lucky in the previous 6 years with all 3 maids completing their contract. Or really times have changed....

Just now went to the agent to take back all my PD cheques. Don't think will get a replacement maid from them as their service really sucks !!!! They just want to get their loan back & expects me to pay for ALL expenses. Also saw my maid sitting there enjoying aircon & give me that kind of \"I win\" attitude......gets me mad :x :x :x

My P1 girl also says she does not want maid anymore. Just that I am worried she will be tired if I put her at student care. She will need to be at student care from 8am. Takes school bus around 11.20am, and reaches home around 7.15pm. Her school is really far from where we stay...

I really agree with you - ultimately I just need a simple maid who is here knowing why she is here for. Is that too much to ask? ????? :stupid: :stupid:

My ph maid with us for 1yrs plus, 4 months ago, my neighbour told me she saw her at void deck toking to a dark skin man for a few times in the afternoon. This neighbour warn me about my maid. Went back I question her, she denied and even said she has 1 day off every month she wouldn't do this kinda thing. And even said if I see it with my own eye, she has nothing to say.

Day time she will be home alone, dh and myself go to work, ds1 and ds2 at childcare. She will cook dinner, fetch ds1 and ds2 at hse bus-stop and prepare them for dinner. I reach home around 7plus, sometimes 8. My mum will come to my place once a while in the afternoon and today she caught her at my blk void deck loitering around, probly meeting up the 2 dark skin man my mum saw sitting at the stone chairs. But she denied everything when mum ask and said she just happen to walk around there. This is very suspicious....

What is your advice? My first time encountering this problem although I had maid last time but everytime put at my mother's place.

keep quiet. then buy you neighbor a nice gift and ask your neighbor to take a picture using handphone when next time your neighbor see her with the dark skin guy. meanwhile, looking for replacement...

one thing i dont understand is why ph maid likes to mess up with those dark skin guys, ie, bangla man...they are different species and religious and i dont see anything common between them. why?

Since she worked 1 yr 4 mths...... :idea: is time to find new maid if lack of trust anymore. When your new maid arrive, her contract will be ending soon.

I will not renew the contract with her since her behavior is suspicious.

Should I pretend not to know what happen today, and catch her myself next week. Give her a last warning. Or should I warn her tonite? Very vexed, cos she takes care of my 2 sons when we are work late.

i know it’s tough in your case as both you and husband are working, and it’s not easy to find a maid the kids can get along with.

is it possible to ask your mom to go over to your place more often to watch her? if your maid is left alone at home most of the time, she’s bound to feel bored and will want to wander around.

Another way is to bring her to my mum’s place like last time. And she cannot bring her hp (tho I told her can only use hp after 9pm at nite, now alone at home sure use it when I am not around). Kids schoolbus send to my mum’s place, then nite time bring them back home. Its a hassle lah but at least its bullet proof hahahah.

dont warn her. collect evidence first. otherwise she will do it in more discreet way in the future that you could hardly find out. as far as you dont have concrete evidence, she knows there is nothing you can do about her. even you send her back based on suspicious reason, she can later complain to agent that it's your problem and agent may not stay in your side.


for me, no matter how she loves my kid before, once this happened, your kid is no longer her first priority anymore. your home security will also be compromised. it's simply not worth the risk.

i dont mind maid having male friend. but it highly depends on the nature. a married maid with husband normally gives you peace of mind. but a maid desperately looking for a boyfriend gives you big trouble.

After almost 2 months without a maid, my new Myanmarese maid finally arrived yesterday after some delay from the agent.


Btw, what's the basic insurance for maid? Can anyone enlighten me? The agent charged me $235.40, is it the universal basic insurance for all maids? I have to pay almost $3000 including maid loan, insurance and agent fee to the agent. :roll:

My new maid has been with us for over a week now and she still seems pretty clueless. Even though she's filipino, she seems to have a hard time understanding Eng, both spoken and written. I have to admit she's hard working (i purposely picked her as she's an ox). But I also want someone who works smart. So my physical stress has been replaced by mental stress :stupid:

As for the fees, I paid 267.5 for insurance and the total bill is $2100+. It's cheaper as it's a direct hire but then I don't have the option send her back to the agent is she's not good.
