In terms of qualification, the master degree stands higher than the DipABRSM (and the charges work out cheaper). However, qualification is one thing, teaching is another. The latter comes with experience, character and creativity. Have a chat (or even meet up) with both teachers, sound out their views, see how they communicate, then make your decision from there.
          Hi there,

I am paying $250/mth (1hr per lesson) for my girl (grade 4). Teacher is a degree holder from overseas. Do you think is reasonable? I find the fee is very high as compared to my friends' who are paying $140 to $170.

Dear all, am looking for a piano teacher that is willing to travel to our place (Bishan) to teach my 8 years old girl. No exam and theory. She will just play the piano for leisure. Please PM me. Thanks!

                  Dear all,

I’m also looking for a good teacher to teach my gal either in our place or the teacher’s place in the NorthEast area. As I’m on a tight budget, would like to look for a good teacher but at a reasonable rate. Any recommendations? Please PM me. Thanks.

Hi all the piano teachers out there

Is it necessary to take theory exam at grade 3 if the kid is ready for it?

The exam fee is kind of expensive $91.00. Just need more opinions on this.

                    Thanks & regards

It is not necessary to take any grade except for grade 5. However your teacher must have a reason to for your child to take it. Maybe to motivate your child or to see where she stand or let her try an exam. Do talk to your teacher 🙂

                        Hi hi..

Any parent has sent your 2yr old kids to music/piano classes? Does your kids really pick up skill from attending those course and does it really helps for their piano higher level course? If yes, any recommended school. Thank you!

                        Cheers!

I've always thought most music schools conduct piano lessons only for children of at least 4 years old - even so, at least 1 parent is expected to sit in to make sure the child follows up at home. Children under that age are mostly taught music appreciation classes, but apparently they can do more than that according to http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/music-lessons-your-two-year-old.

Anyone aware of schools in Singapore that provides formal instrument (piano, keyboard, violin, etc) lessons for kids under 4 years old?

Yes, Ballet & Music @ Choa Chu Kang provides music lessons for under 4 yrs. Check out http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Ballet-Music-Company-Choa-Chu-Kang/139921246034127
