All About Primary Schools' Balloting History

I thought so too until I found out that in today's 2B balloting exercise in a popular school in Bukit Timah, only 1 applicant is PR, rest all Singaporeans. I believe it is because of more condos being built around these schools (it is a strong selling point by developers) which increase numbes of potential applicants within the area notwithstanding national birth rate has fallen.
Looking at the statistics this year, I counted that most of the hot schools have become much hotter. In phase 2B alone, a lot of balloting has to take place, even for those <1km. Based on live birth data for the past few years, 2004 is the lowest. So obviously, the increase has been due to new citizens and PRs. Why didn't the schools try to increase the intake? I am seriously hoping that MOE recognises the problem and at least try to ask the schools to increase their capacity if possible, by hiring more staffs if the physical space permit for more classrooms. Thinking further ahead, with this jump in intake, is it possible that the transition to single-session schools be postponed? -
sometimes it is so easy to just point fingers at the foreigners and PRs without realising that the other 4 fingers are pointing backward at ownselves

therefore in choosing which hot primary school to go for Phase 2B or 2C, please bear in mind the population density around the school, go study the URA master plan and see which area may hike in density and which will not. That will reduce some uncertainty
it is not too difficult to spot which pri school is surrounded by high / low density housing … less surprises for you in terms of number of kids within 1 km … -

Agree. I think Catholic High became so hot due to Clover by the Park and Natura Loft being introduced last year and a whole lot of old boys decided to come back. At the Maris Stella balloting yesterday, only 5 out of the 74 applicants were PRs. But our 2 ballot slips seem to be working... only 2 of the PRs got in and many citizens even got picked twice.

Do i go for Keming or Bukit View which is hot but not as hot as PESS??
All 3 schools are within the 1 km radius....
Thanks... -
i am going to send my child to primary school in 4 years time, but i feel i have to start reading up and knowing more about this education system. wat a rat race!!! Personally i am really not impressed.
Anyway, wish to get advice. My husband is from NYPS. So does that mean my daughter will automatically get a place in the school? I called up the school and they said MOST LIKELY i’ll get a place for her in the school. And the school admin was suggesting my husband may wish joining the alumni to get a higher priority which cost $1000 for lifetime!!! -

I suggest, you go stake out PESS, your wife go stake out Keming, and your kid go stake out Bukit View.......and see which one got better chance....of course understand your first choice is PESS ..... may be get some people to pester potential PESS applicants to go Keming ?
ok jokes aside, i think both PESS and Keming is okay
have reservations about bukit view, not that they are no good - just that i have not heard about them
